Title: Associate Clinical Professor

Mini Biography: Amanda Joost is an associate clinical professor at BGSU within the public and allied health department. Her career as an MLS began in Northwest Ohio where she worked for two rural health systems as a generalist in the clinical laboratory.  She became a department supervisor in Clinical Chemistry and then moved into the roles of Point-of-Care Coordinator and Phlebotomy Supervisor before she began instructing at Bowling Green State University. Prompted by the laboratory’s response to the pandemic, Amanda also worked at Mercy Health - Toledo in the molecular microbiology department.

Along with her work in academia and in the clinical laboratory, Amanda is a doctoral candidate in Health Education. Her research interests include improving the utilization of diagnostic laboratory testing to improve patient outcomes.  Amanda also serves as the director of a local non-profit organization and coordinator for their health promotion program. In this role, she participates in patient advocacy and education efforts related to rare diseases and disabilities.
