Lonie Moore

Lonie Moore is the Chief Financial Officer of a startup insurance company in Michigan. He started his career as a defined benefit plan actuary at Willis Towers Watson, has held roles in the insurance industry as an actuary in a life and annuity product development role, as AVP Analytics within a retirement organization, and most recently was a senior-level product director at Nationwide Financial, where he launched several innovative in-plan annuity products within the 401k marketplace.

Lonie has an MBA from Xavier University, where he finished ranked first in his class. He has an MS in Statistics from West Virginia University, where he achieved the highest score on record at the university for the theoretical portion of his PhD-qualifying exam. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Mathematics and German from Bowling Green State University. Lonie was the Outstanding Student in German twice while at BGSU and participated for three semesters in BGSU’s AYA Salzburg study abroad program. Lonie currently serves on the board of directors for BGSU’s AYA Salzburg Alumni Group.

Lonie has been teaching as an adjunct professor since 2011 and has received awards for his teaching in the field of statistics. He has taught as an adjunct professor for several universities, including Xavier University, West Virginia University, Franklin University, Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and most recently for Bowling Green State University. His courses include Business Statistics, Theoretical Statistics, Actuarial Mathematics (a combination of calculus, financial mathematics, and insurance), and Retirement Planning.

Lonie holds the FINRA Series 65 license (investment Advisor Representative), the Series 6 license (Investment Company and Variable Products Representative) and the Ohio Life, Accident & Health, and Variable Contracts licenses. He has passed four exams through the Society of Actuaries, including probability theory, financial mathematics (theory of interest), financial economics (derivatives pricing), and actuarial models (insurance pricing).

Lonie has four daughters, Grace, Emily, Zuri, and Aaliyah. Lonie’s fiancé Sue is a Kenyan citizen, a former exchange student at Yale University. She holds two Masters degrees from Indiana University (MS in Applied Health Sciences and MA in African Studies) and is working to complete her doctoral dissertation for her PhD in Public Health at Indiana University. She is an Associate Instructor at Indiana University where she teaches Swahili language courses through the department of African Studies as well as a Stress Management course offered through the department of Public Health.
