Hansen Musical Arts Series bringing free, virtual concert to BGSU campus and community
The Akropolis Reed Quintet will perform its award-winning music and offer workshops for budding artists
Bowling Green State University is hosting a free, virtual concert with the Akropolis Reed Quintet as part of the 2021 Hansen Musical Arts Series. The performance is open to the public and gets underway at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, and can be viewed live on YouTube.
Celebrating 10 years together, the Akropolis Reed Quintet was founded at the University of Michigan and has won seven national chamber music prizes, including the Fischoff Gold Medal and Fischoff Educator Award. The group is also known for its annual 16-event festival in Detroit, which features multidisciplinary collaborators, a workplace concert series and educational outreach.
Established in 1996, the Dorothy E. and DuWayne H. Hansen Musical Arts Series Fund helps bring musical arts ambassadors to campus and the Bowling Green community. As a public university for the public good, Bowling Green State University is proud to welcome the Akropolis Reed Quintet to share its musical talents with students in the College of Musical Arts and with the community.
In addition to the concert, the University is partnering with the quintet to offer entrepreneurial workshops and individual master classes for which participants will need to register individually in order to receive access links.
