3. Check your holds

Check your holds

Some holds on your account may prevent you from registering for classes until the hold is resolved.

What’s a hold?

A hold is a block placed on your student account that prevents you from registering for classes – or, in some cases, accessing other University services – until the issue is resolved. Holds can happen for many reasons, such as unpaid balances, missing paperwork, advising requirements or incomplete health records.

Types of holds and how to handle them

Athletic holds: If you're a student athlete and see an athletic hold on your account, it will not prevent you from registering for classes. This is a different type of hold that prevents you from being able to drop a course without speaking to your athletic advisor. Contact your student-athlete services academic coordinator or Meghan Horn if you are unsure who your coordinator is.

Service is suspended hold: Contact our office for further assistance at 419-372-8441 or registrar@bgsu.edu.

All other kinds of holds: Follow the instructions provided.

You will not be able to register for classes if you have a hold on your account.
