College Deans/Dean's Designees
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and support to faculty developing curriculum proposals.
- Ensure that curriculum proposals align with college priorities.
- Evaluate resource implications and feasibility of proposals, given college funding and staffing levels.
- Serve as last point of approval before proposals move to Undergraduate Council or Graduate Council.
Guiding Questions:
Proposers should be consulting with their Dean’s office throughout the process of developing a curriculum proposal. Deans may have additional questions and concerns based on their unique knowledge of how their colleges function and how various units interact with one another. The questions below represent the general questions Deans may consider as they evaluate proposals for approval.
- Does this proposal impact other units in the college? In what way(s)? Are the impacted units in support of this proposal?
- Does the proposal have learning outcomes aligned with the college’s strategic goals?
- In the opinion of the college, is this proposal viable given the unit’s current staffing and resources?
- Is the proposal’s justification clear, acceptable, and student-centered?
- Does the proposal align with college and institutional strategic priorities?
- Does the proposal align with the Forward strategic plan?
