Bowling Green Perspective (BGP) director announced
December 16, 2025
I am pleased to share the outcome of the search for the Bowling Green Perspective (BGP) director position.
Following a successful internal search, three strong finalists presented their visions for BGP and proposals for aligning the program with Ohio’s new state general education requirements. After careful consideration, we are excited to announce that Dr. Emily Anzicek has accepted the position of BGP director, effective Jan. 5, 2026.
Dr. Anzicek has been a faculty member in the School of Media and Communication since 2008 and brings extensive experience in undergraduate curriculum leadership to this role. Most recently, she has served as the Faculty Fellow for Curriculum in the Graduate College (since 2024). Previously, she served as Provost’s Fellow for Undergraduate Curriculum (2022-24), acting associate dean in the College of Arts and Sciences (2021-22), and as both undergraduate and graduate program coordinator in the School of Media and Communication.
From 2010 to 2021, Dr. Anzicek directed COMM 1020: Introduction to Public Speaking, a foundational course that she successfully shepherded into inclusion in BGP in 2015. Her longstanding engagement with general education and curriculum design positions her well to lead BGP during this important period of transition. She is a 2018 graduate of the HERS Leadership Institute at Bryn Mawr College and was a member of the 2023-24 MAC Academic Leadership Development Program cohort.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the other two finalists, Ray Schuck and Patrick Vrooman, for their interest, passion and commitment to BGP. I look forward to their continued engagement as we move forward. In addition, I would like to thank the search committee for their outstanding work. This includes Simon Morgan-Russell, who served as chair, Jessica Bankey, Maureen Barry, Kathryn Phillips, Thomas Roberts, James Rowe, Siobhan Shay, Marcus Sherrell, Jessica Turos and Christopher Witulski.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Anzicek on her appointment. We look forward to her leadership as BGP continues to evolve to meet the needs of our students and the requirements of the state.
Regards,

Ravi Krovi, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President
