In Brief: November 10

‘Global Trafficking in Ohio’ is symposium topic

The Department of Ethnic Studies and the School of Cultural and Critical Studies will present “Immigrant Ohio,” a symposium that looks at immigration issues germane to the state. “Global Trafficking in Ohio,” the focus of this year’s Immigrant Ohio symposium, will be held Tuesday (Nov. 15) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 202B Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The event is free and open to the public.

Throughout the day speakers will highlight global trafficking in our communities and draw attention to the ways men, women and children from abroad are trafficked to Ohio. In addition, the presentations will highlight how the federal government and local grassroots organizations and activists aid victims of trafficking. Presentations are planned by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the U.S. Department of Justice, Advocating Opportunity and a trafficking survivor.
