Guest Student Admission

What is a guest student?

Guest is a temporary classification for people who:

  • Have not been admitted into a degree program at BGSU and
  • Want to take undergraduate classes at BGSU (numbered 0-4999)

Who can apply as a guest student?

  • Anyone who graduated from high school or earned a GED
  • Anyone who attended another college or university

You may not apply as a guest student if you have been denied or refused formal admission to BGSU. A guest student's registration will be withdrawn if it is discovered that they have been denied formal admission.

Guest students are not eligible for financial aid.

How do I apply as a guest student?

  • There is no application fee when applying as a guest.
  • You are not required to submit a high school transcript or ACT scores.

Allow three days to process your guest application. Once completed, a confirmation will be sent to the email provided on your application.

Applicants who have indicated a felony conviction on their application will be notified about additional information to be submitted.

For application instructions, choose the statement that best describes your personal situation.

  • Guest students must submit the guest application each term they wish to take classes.
  • Undergraduate guest students are not eligible for financial aid.
  • Coursework taken as a guest student will be applicable to a degree program if you want to formally enroll at BGSU in the future.
  • Guest students may register for undergraduate classes only (course numbers 0-4999).
  • Guest students may take just 16 hours of credit without formal admission to BGSU. The 16-hour limit shall include all semester hours attempted by the student – including those for classes you fail.

Once the 16-hour limit has been reached, the student must be formally admitted through the Office of Admissions, 200 University Hall, 419-372-2478. If a student cannot be admitted, permission is required from the Office of Admissions to continue enrollment as a guest student.
