OER grant applications now open

BGSU faculty can now apply for a Creation Grant to develop an Open Educational Resource (OER) when no suitable existing option is available.

OERs are free, openly licensed teaching and learning materials, such as textbooks, videos or lab workbooks, that can be customized and shared under Creative Commons licensing terms.

Grant details:

• Application period: Oct. 27 – Nov. 28, 2025
• Award announcement: January 2026
• Funding amount: $3,000

Creation Grants support the development of original OERs, including:

• Traditional textbooks
• Instructional videos
• Oral history collections
• Lab workbooks

Funding covers development costs only (not hosting or printing). Grants are available each fall semester.
