Autism Spectrum Disorders
The Online Master of Education in Special Education with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) is a graduate program that equips professionals with knowledge of advanced educational methods for individuals with autism. This entirely online program is unique in Ohio and is aimed at educators, psychologists, therapists, medical personnel and speech and language pathologists that want to explore innovative ways of supporting individuals with ASD.
Autism spectrum disorders affect an estimated 1 in 68 individuals. There is a growing demand for highly trained professionals with the knowledge and skills to meet the educational and psychosocial needs of individuals with ASD. Program faculty members are involved in national ASD organizations and students are guaranteed relevant and current information on how to best support individuals with ASD.
The program can be completed in two academic years with a minimum of 34 semester hours. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with classes starting each August, January, and May. Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an approved university, complete an online application, submit three letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent describing their interest in pursuing a master's degree.
