Faculty Guide: Registering Course Materials

BGSU is committed to making textbooks more affordable and accessible for students. BGSU Textbooks offers students a list of required and recommended materials for each course, along with price comparisons from multiple online retailers.

Students rely on BGSU Textbooks to prepare for classes, compare prices, and save time and money. Because BGSU does not operate a physical bookstore, all textbook listings and purchases are completed online.

Faculty Requirement to Register Course Materials

All instructors must register their course materials each semester before student registration begins.
This is required by BGSU Policy #3341-3-70 and supports compliance with the federal Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA).

  • Books, including free options like course reserves and library ebooks
  • Courseware (e.g., Connect, MyLab, Mastering, MindTap, WebAssign)
  • Lab manuals and workbooks
  • Ancillaries, kits, and supplies
  • Apps, software, and subscriptions (if there is a cost)
  • Study/response systems (e.g., Top Hat, Perusall, Stukent)
  • Open Educational Resources (OER)
