Honors Experience Study Abroad Scholarship
A one-time award of $2,000 to apply toward a BGSU Education Abroad experience. This can be applied to a BGSU program during any semester after the student’s first year as long as they are active members in good standing with the Honors College.
The Hoskins Global Scholars Program will provide $5,000 for up to 3 students per year to participate in a 3- to 4-week independent, international experience to a country that is not native to the student. Students will need a faculty mentor and must participate in presentations about their experience upon their return to campus.

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a bachelor's degree by the time they accept the award. ASF awards graduate students and academic professionals interested in pursuing research or creative-arts projects in the Nordic Region. Most ASF projects require at least basic knowledge of the language of the host country.
Purpose of the award
The American-Scandinavian Foundation is a publicly supported, nonprofit organization that promotes international understanding through educational and cultural exchange between the U.S. and Nordic countries.
Duration/Amount
Year-long fellowships offer up to $23,000 and short-term (1 to 3 months) fellowships offer up to $5,000. Awards support project-related costs, including airfare, room and board, in-country travel, tuition and fees (where applicable) and materials.

Who is eligible?

Purpose of the award
Very few U.S. study abroad students travel to the Middle East and North Africa. Mideast would like to address this imbalance by offering programs in these areas. Scholarships are available to help students fund their Amideast program.

Who is eligible?

The Belgian American Educational Foundation is the leading independent philanthropy fostering higher education of deserving Belgians and Americans through its exchange fellowship program.

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. with a bachelor’s degree by the start of the grant. Purpose of the award
Boren Scholarships and Fellowships provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to add an important international and language component to their education. They focus on geographic areas, languages and fields of study that are critical to U.S. national security, broadly defined, and underrepresented in study abroad. For example, students may study languages such as Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian, Swahili, etc. In exchange for scholarship funding, all Boren Scholars must commit to work for the federal government for at least one year.

UG Scholarship: Maximum $25,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred), $12,500 for 12-24 weeks, or $8,000 for 8-11 weeks (STEM majors only)

Who is eligible?

Butex aims to support students’ global journeys whether they are studying overseas for a semester or academic year, participating in a summer school program, or working, interning or doing a traineeship placement.

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens who are 18.5 to 24 years old with a high school diploma and strongly interested in Germany and world affairs. Applicants must exhibit clear career goals and relevant experience in their career field, including work or internships.
Purpose of the award
A full-year, work-study scholarship program with a strong focus on cultural exchange. CBYX annually provides 75 young Americans with an understanding of everyday life, education and professional training in Germany. The program begins in July and includes two months of intensive German language training in Germany (no prior German language knowledge required), four months of classroom instruction at a German university or college of applied sciences and a five-month internship in a participant's career field.

Covers round-trip international airfare from Washington D.C. to Germany, language school costs for two months of intensive German language study, tuition costs for one semester of study, housing costs during the pre-internship phases, monthly stipend to cover basic living costs, program-related travel within Germany, and health insurance in Germany. Students are recommended to have $5,000 to cover other associated costs.

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens or nationals who are least 18 years old at the time of application. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. degree-granting program at the undergraduate or graduate level. They also must have completed at least one full year of study by the beginning of the CLS Program.
Purpose of the award
The CLS Program provides immersive summer programs for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to learn languages of strategic importance to the United States’ national security and economic prosperity. Programs are offered for language study in Hindi, Persian, Portuguese, Swahili, Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Russian and Japanese. Language requirements vary by program.

Who is eligible?

Purpose of the award
Each year Gates Cambridge offers around 80 full-cost scholarships to outstanding applicants from countries outside the U.K. to pursue a postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. Approximately two-thirds of these awards will be offered to PhD students, with approximately 25 awards available in the U.S. round and 55 available in the international round.

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens, U.S. national residents of American Samoa, or those expecting their citizenship by the date of the award, and are currently enrolled in a U.S.-based accredited institution. For students in a four-year program, this scholarship requires they are in their penultimate year, while students in a three-year or less program must be in their final year of school. Applicants must be nominated by their current or former (if they are a transfer or community college applicant) institution, and plan to attend graduate school in pursuit of a career in public service.

The Truman Foundation identifies aspiring leaders when they are college juniors and recognize and reward their commitment to careers in public service.

Purpose of the award
The goals of the Taiwan Scholarship are to bring to Taiwan foreign students with potential who are interested in the Mandarin language, to promote Mandarin and traditional Chinese writing, and to increase foreign students' understanding of the culture and historical development of Taiwan. Purpose of the award
Marshall Scholarships provides funding for one or two years for master’s degree programs, or up to three years for a doctoral study, at a U.K. university. Marshall Scholarship candidates excel as scholars, leaders, and contribute to improve U.K.-U.S. understanding.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program is a highly individualized and accelerated doctoral training program for outstanding students committed to biomedical research careers. NIH Oxford-Cambridge students partner with two Investigators - one at the NIH and another at the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom - to perform a single, collaborative dissertation project.

Purpose of the award
A fully-funded postgraduate award which enables talented young people from around the world to study full-time at the University of Oxford. The Rhodes Scholarship is merit-based, with the purpose of developing public-spirited leaders, and to promote international understanding and peace through an international community of Scholars.
Duration/Amount
The scholarship covers the fees to apply to the University of Oxford, course fees at the university, student visa and associated International Health Surcharge fees, two economy class flights to and from the U.K., and an annual stipend from which Scholars pay all living expenses, including accommodation. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students in good academic standing at a four-year, degree-granting college or university in the U.S. They also must have applied to or been accepted into a credit-bearing study abroad program during the fall or spring semester.

Awarded biannually to passionate students who want to explore the world. Tortuga’s mission is to make travel easier, including for students.
Duration/Amount
$1,000 scholarship for studying abroad and 1 Tortuga travel backpack will be awarded to the winner. The scholarship can be used for tuition, room and board, books, or travel. The funds will be sent directly to the winner’s study abroad program or university.

Who is eligible?
All majors may apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be enrolled as undergraduates in a college or university in the United States before and during the time they are studying abroad.
Purpose of the award
The Bridging Foundation awards scholarships to undergraduate students who demonstrate academic merit and financial need towards a study abroad program in Japan for a semester or academic year. The award must be used for tuition, travel, or daily cost-of-living expenses.
Duration/Amount
Bridging Scholarship recipients receive a stipend of $2,500 (for students on semester-long programs) or $4,500 (for students on academic-year programs).

Who is eligible?
U.S. citizens who have a 3.0 GPA and a bachelor’s degree in French language and literature from an accredited four-year institution. Applicants must demonstrate the active use of French in their current or future career.
Purpose of the award
To help educators and researchers enrich, promote, and improve education in the standard French language in the U.S. Educators and researchers who receive this award will study French language, literature and culture through independent research or an accredited academic program.
Duration/Amount
$17,000 for at least six continuous months of study in France.
