Preventing Violence in Ohio Schools (C2S2)

Preventing Violence in Ohio Schools (C2S2) is a three year, $1,853,070 grant from United States Office of Justice Programs (OJP) Preventing School Violence: BJA's STOP School Violence Program. The goal of C2S2 is to reduce violence in Ohio schools. We will accomplish this by providing specialized training, programming, and curricula focused on de-escalation, prevention of self-harm and harm against others, crisis prevention, and recognizing early warning signs of mental health crises equips personnel to address these issues before school violence occurs.

Project Objectives:

1. Establish, develop, and strengthen partnerships between Bowling Green State University and Ohio school districts focused on supporting mental health and wellbeing in schools.
2. Prevent school violence through a special focus on training school personnel to respond to mental health crises.
3. Meet the needs of school districts in Ohio  to provide training on de-escalation, prevention of self-harm and harm against others, crisis prevention, and recognizing early warning signs of mental health crises equips personnel to address these issues before school violence occurs

BGSU provides local school districts with mental health training through $1.8M federal grant
