Professor Ryan Ebright awarded a 2017-2018 Short-Term Research Fellowship from the New York Public Library

Dr. Ryan Ebright has been awarded a 2017-2018 Short-Term Research Fellowship from the New York Public Library for his project "Scoring the Body: Meredith Monk's Atlas and the American Operatic Work."

The Fellowship supports scholars from outside the New York metropolitan area engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, and independent research. The Library received nearly 300 applications and will be able to fund just over 10% of the proposed projects.

Dr. Ebright will spend two weeks in July/August 2017 at the Library of Performing Arts at Lincoln Center working with materials in the Meredith Monk archive. His research is focusing on Atlas, an unorthodox opera that Monk composed for Houston Grand Opera in 1991, which will serve as the basis for a chapter of his book-in-progress, 'Making American Opera for the Modern Age'.
