Aviation Students and Financial Aid
The BGSU School of Aviation offers one of the most advanced flight training programs in the Midwest. In addition to standard tuition and fees outlined on the Estimate Costs page, aviation students should plan for significant flight training expenses.
Over the course of the program, required flight course fees typically range from $80,000 to $106,000, depending on individual progress and flight hours.
Planning ahead is essential. Filing the FAFSA and understanding your financing options early can help you manage these additional costs.

How to pay for flight training costs
These actions are important for every student but even more so for aviation students. Filing your FAFSA early and applying for scholarships helps maximize your eligibility for aid.
Students enrolled in aviation courses with flight fees may be eligible to increase existing Parent PLUS or private loan amounts or apply for additional funding.
Loan increases are not automatic and may require additional steps or approval. When additional flight courses are added to your schedule, contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss options for increasing your PLUS or private loan.
Tuition and flight fees are billed each semester. Because flight costs can vary, it’s important to review your account regularly and plan ahead.
Payment plans are available through the BGSU bursar’s office to help manage expenses over time.
Are you a military student or veteran?
The aviation program does not qualify for GI Bill® or VA education benefits. You may be eligible for other military education benefits.
