5. Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tip #1: Turn on MFA

You need more than a password to protect your online accounts and enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) makes you significantly less likely to get hacked! BGSU uses Duo Two Factor Authentication as its MFA method to protect valuable information and resources like your BGSU email, Canvas, the MyBGSU portal and the BGSU VPN. We also suggest using MFA to protect your other accounts like social media, banking, personal email, etc. Duo MFA verifies your identity by utilizing something you know (BGSU password) and something you have (authentication using a mobile phone text/app, landline or security token/key fob).

ITS recommends using Duo push notifications as your authentication method, and you should never approve an authentication attempt that you did not initiate.

Visit ITS’ Cybersecurity Awareness Month website for more information.

6. Film screening and discussion with filmmakers

In the movie "Shoebox," the main character, Mampu, watches her father struggle to keep his single-screen theatre alive – as her hometown of Allahabad acquires a new name and starts losing traces of its past. The movie traces the evolving urban landscape in India, particularly through the lens of the historic city of Allahabad's transformation in the last four decades through a backdrop of the world's largest gathering – Kumbh Mela. Shoebox perfectly encapsulates the struggle to preserve identity, memory and the heritage of a rapidly growing and evolving country – India.
