Finance Minor

The Minor in Finance is designed for both business and non-business students who would like a basic understanding of finance without taking all of the core business requirements. The program is available to all students except BSBA students pursuing a Finance specialization.

The program will familiarize students with financial management and the financial system of institutions and markets in which firms must operate, and expose them to important fundamentals of finance while they explore several different areas of finance.

The Minor in Finance will help prepare students to better understand and adequately perform basic finance functions in whatever career they choose upon their graduation, as well as to be able to manage their personal finances.

Should a student wish to pursue a more in-depth study of Finance, FIN 3400, 3500 and 4350 are core courses for both the Finance Specialization and the Financial Planning Concentration. Regarding the remaining 4000-level electives, all of the classes within the Minor are applicable to the Finance Specialization; for the Financial Planning Concentration, only FIN 4130, 4140 and 4210 can be counted toward the Concentration.
