Meet advisor and prepare schedule
If you have any questions regarding your courses or the registration process, connect with your advisor. You can meet with them or shoot them an email to ask for course recommendations. Advisors should be listed in your MyBGSU student center. You’re also welcome to reach out to your online program advisor.
Note: Some students – including new undergraduates – are required to meet with their advisors before they register. You may see an advising hold on your account if you haven’t met with them before you try to register. Your advisor can release that hold once you have connected.
You will be able to start reviewing class options and building your schedule about a month prior to registration opening. We recommend you do this before meeting with your academic advisor and at the latest, prior to your registration day.
Note for new undergraduate online students: We recommend you start to research classes after you receive your degree completion plan. We send your plan to your BGSU email. The plan outlines what your prerequisites are and what courses you need to take. If you applied and were admitted close to the start of the semester and haven’t received your completion plan, you’ll need to work with your advisor to figure out which courses to take.
Tips
- Preparing a shopping cart prior to registration opening does not guarantee there will be an opening in the class when you are able to register.
- Consider the final exam schedule when enrolling in courses. No one wants three or more final exams on the same day! Check exam schedules.
