A Message from the President
Our 2017 Homecoming was one of the best! Many of our alumni and friends returned home to reconnect with each other and experience all the changes at our University.

During Homecoming weekend, BGSU inducted five outstanding Falcons to the Academy of Distinguished Alumni. From success at Google and Deloitte & Touche to finance, corporate relationships, and health care, Gregory L. Forte ’76, Asim Husain ’95, Robert “Bob” B. Rothermel ’65, Julie A. Schmelzle ’86 and Dr. Tom Shehab ’90 have represented BGSU proudly in their careers.

BGSU premiered Changing Lives for the World: The Campaign for BGSU during Homecoming! More than $110 million has been committed for this initiative, and I am thankful to our alumni and friends for their support. Visit the Campaign website to learn about the campaign priorities and to hear stories from our alumni on how this University has changed their lives.

Fostering an environment where you can learn from others is key in education. Retired American astronaut Mark Kelly and Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Clarence Page recently shared their life experiences and wisdom with the University community. Their stories remind us that grit, perseverance and resilience are essential in the endless pursuit of excellence. Join us on November 29 as we host J.D. Vance, author of Hillbilly Elegy which is our 2017-18 Common Reading. The lecture is free and open to the public; an RSVP is required.

Creating partnerships will sustain BGSU’s future for years to come. We also have the responsibility to serve our region. We have partnered with Toledo Public Schools and its Aerospace and Natural Science Academy to create a pathway for high school students to earn a bachelor's degree from BGSU in aviation. BGSU is one of only two universities with an airport on campus, and our state-of-the-art facilities will prepare future aviators for rewarding careers while filling an industry need.

As we near the end of the semester, I'm confident that BGSU will continue to accomplish great things! Thank you for your continued support. I hope to see you back on campus soon.

Regards,
