4. National Student Employment Week

WHAT IS NATIONAL STUDENT EMPLOYMENT WEEK? The National Student Employment Association has declared that the second full week in April every year be set aside to recognize the value of student employees and student employment professionals.

Student employees are the lifeblood of Bowling Green State University. They are integral to nearly every facet of University operations throughout a student’s career at BGSU, from a student’s first recruiting interaction, through graduation and successful advancement into the community as a BGSU alum. Their hard work is seen everywhere across campus and are responsible for many of the day-to-day tasks involved in the vast majority of BGSU departments.

We invite you to help us celebrate the wonderful efforts and accomplishments of our student employees during this year’s National Student Employment Week, held April 11-15.

Submit your nominations today!

Beginning March 17, your BGSU password requirement will be 12 characters. However, ITS recommends passwords of at least 16 characters to better protect your account and the University. Longer passwords/passphrases are proven to be more secure and harder to predict.

All password resets made on or after March 17 will be subject to the 12-character requirement. Additional information on IT Security at BGSU is available in our Knowledge Base.

Please direct any questions regarding this change to Information Technology Services (ITS) at 419-372-0999.

11. Student opinion survey from the Higher Learning Commission

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) is the institutional accreditor of BGSU. To remain accredited with the HLC, BGSU must undergo a comprehensive evaluation every ten years. BGSU staff is developing the reports for this evaluation, which will culminate with an on-site peer review visit October 17-18, 2022. As part of the comprehensive evaluation, the HLC conducts an online survey of BGSU’s student body. The survey is intended to give students an opportunity to participate in the evaluation process and to help peer reviewers identify questions they might ask while on site.

On April 4, you will receive an email invitation to participate in this short survey. You will have until April 13 to complete it. The answers on this survey are anonymous. Unless you include identifying information in your comments, the HLC and BGSU will not have access to your identity. Your participation is completely voluntary. The results of the survey will be available for the peer reviewers and BGSU administration September 2022.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND DON’T FORGET TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL ON APRIL 4!

6. Money Mindset Masterclass

Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs & the Center for Women and Gender Equity on March 21 in BTSU 201A from noon to 1 p.m. for an interactive experience this Womxn’s History Month with wealth advisor and founder of Financially EmpowHERed, Stephanie Georgakopoulos!

While it is important for every member of a household to understand their finances and have at least basic money management skills, the need for womxn-identified individuals to have strong day-to-day and long-term financial planning skills is even higher. On average womxn live two years longer, are more likely to leave the workplace mid-career, and make 26% less (even wider gap for womxn of color) than their male counterparts. These three factors combined demonstrate the vital importance of womxn not only understanding their relationship to money but the role financial literacy can play in their lifelong endeavors.

The Money Mindset Masterclass is a phenomenal experience where womxn learn the four money personality types (Money Evader, Money Idolizer, Money Spender and Money Saver), how their type has impacted their relationship with money, how it has held them back, and what they can do to change that relationship. The session will also dive deep into the eight most common money blocks that appear due to these personality traits and actionable tips and tricks to eradicate them fast!

Masks are encouraged. Please feel free to bring your lunch with you.
