Christine Speer

Cleveland Clinic

Bachelor of Science, Advanced Technological Education 2011 (M&T)

“Receiving my Bachelors of Science degree in Advanced Technical Education was a wonderful and amazing accomplishment for me. At 39 years old, I was a nontraditional student, returning to school after several years, and also a completely online student. I started the ATE online program in Fall 2010. This online nature allowed me to attend school as a full-time student, and at the same time, work full-time. Due to the wonderful convenience of this program, I was able to finish the degree in Summer 2011. My experience of being a nontraditional student at BGSU was amazing, and I am happy to tell others about the positive experience I had in the program.”

Bowling Green State University-Firelands, Associate of Arts, 2006

“In 2005, I returned to college to complete my degree in a field that was more relative to my current position, and more in line with my career aspirations. I researched online degree programs, as well as local colleges and universities in Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan, and the Advanced Technological Education program at Bowling Green State University was the best fit. Not only did I learn how to effectively utilize technology-based educational and training systems, but it also taught me about forecasting and project management. The knowledge and the skills that I gained have allowed me to become more effective in my position and to assume more advanced projects and responsibilities within my company.”

“BGSU’s online degree ATE program is ideal for transitioning adult learning. One can advance and/or complete their degree from home or during work breaks. The degree enhances job promotion or search by gaining knowledge on how technology affects the workplace and society in our daily lifestyle. Ultimately, I acquired the knowledge base to use technology for management, assessment, training, and interacting with staff members effectively. In addition, the ATE program allowed me to enter the graduate program to complete a Master’s degree in education. I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree to better interact with management and training within the higher education community.”
