Scholarships
90% of all new BGSU students receive financial assistance.
How to apply for scholarships
Only admitted students may fill out scholarship applications.
BGSU makes applying for scholarships easy. Fill out one application – the BGSU general scholarship application – and you’ll automatically be considered for all the scholarships you’re eligible for.
Scholarship deadlines
- Scholarship application opens: Oct. 1
- Priority deadline for new students: Feb. 19
- Priority deadline for returning students: Feb. 27
How to apply
- Log in to MyBGSU → Scholarship opportunities tile → Begin your scholarship application.
- Fill in the required information on the general BGSU scholarship application. You will be matched automatically to all scholarships for which you qualify and added to the applicant pool.
- If you have declared a major, you will be asked to complete an additional college-specific scholarship application. Again, you will be automatically matched to scholarships and added to the applicant pool. Undecided students will NOT see this option.
- Some scholarships require additional information or documents. You will be directed to “Recommended Opportunities” to view a list of those scholarships. Read the scholarship descriptions and if you meet the qualifications, select “Apply” and you’ll see what else is required to apply (recommendations, essays, etc.).
- At any point, you can select “Opportunities” to search all BGSU scholarships. If you see “None” under the Actions column, then you don’t need to do anything further to apply. You will already be considered since you filled out the general or college-specific application.
- Review the status of your applications at any time using the Scholarship Opportunities link in your MyBGSU.
- Edit or update your applications at any time prior to the deadline, even if you have already submitted the application.
Note
The study abroad questions and additional statement are not required.
You can save your information at any time and come back to edit later. After you submit your application, you may continue to edit it up until the scholarship deadline.
