Combined Bachelor's to Master's in Instructional Design and Technology

Admissions Requirements

Students interested in pursuing the Combined Bachelor of Science in Technology to Master of Education in Instructional Design and Technology must complete the following application requirements: 

1.     By the start of Pre-Master's status, they must have either:

            - 75 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.2[1], or
            - 90 credit hours earned and an overall BGSU GPA of at least 3.0;

2.      A completed Combined Bachelor’s to Master’s Program Application;

3.      Transcripts from all universities attended;

4.      Two letters of recommendation with at least one from a full-time BGSU faculty member, preferably from graduate faculty within the student's major or targeted graduate program.

5.      Statement of purpose that aligns professional interests with program goals.

Combined BST to M.Ed in Instructional Design & Technology Program Plan

Students enrolled in the Combined SST to M.Ed. IDT Program should follow the below course schedule for planning out graduate work that begins while still enrolled as an undergraduate student, followed by the courses taken when fully. enrolled as a graduate student in the Instructional Design & Technology M.Ed. program. In order to complete this plan in a combined format, it is strongly recommended that students choose the Plan II option (non­thesis). Students who choose the thesis option should expect the completion of their master's degree program to take longer than an additional extra (5th) year.

Undergraduate Advanced Status (limited to 9 credits maximum)

Courses that may be taken while an undergraduate student with Undergraduate Advanced Status that will overlap between the Bachelor's and Master's degrees:

     IDT 6500: Instructional Systems Design (for Tech 4330: Instructional Design & Delivery)

     IDT 6600: Program Evaluation (for Tech 4320: Evaluation & Assessment w/ Technology)

     IDT 6740: Digital Learning Theory (for Tech 3200: Adult Learning Theory)
