1. A kickback for the LGBTQ+ community and allies

The Social Justice Learning Community headed by Jess Birch is throwing an event for pride. The Rainbow Bash is just a laid-back event with music and dancing for those a part of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. It takes place Saturday, April 16, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the SkyBank room (201) at the Union. My friends and I simply wanted a time to celebrate our identities as self-care, as opposed to the much-needed activism. I understand that our event is fairly close to Easter, however, your presence will be greatly appreciated by our group. There will be music, trivia with prizes and small goodies, among other possibilities. Please spread the info along to those who may be interested. Flyers for the event will be up around campus.

7. Intro to American Culture Studies online summer BGP course

ACS2000 101W 40062 Intro to American Culture Studies will be available online this summer during session 6W1 (5/16-6/24). This course will ask you to begin to think critically about American culture(s) and the values held therein. By learning to think critically — that is, by learning to ask questions, to be skeptical, to uncover and challenge assumptions — we will be on our way to discovering what types of issues, struggles and debates lie beneath all those values, and thus to understanding the complexity of life in the contemporary United States. For more information contact the School of Cultural and Critical Studies with questions at ccs@bgsu.edu.

8. Participate in survey investigating student interest and need in animal therapy related programming

As an intern with the Wellness Connection, I have been part of the team that has created the PAWS Team. To further understand if this program is needed, I am conducting a survey relating to pets and students.

I am investigating the effects pets have on BGSU students for the research requirement of my field placement. This survey explores pets in students' lives, the belief system of students pertaining to animals' impact (if any) on people, and a self-assessment of students' recent emotions.

Take the survey.

Please contact Ashley Lytle at alytle@bgsu.edu with any questions.
