2. 'How to Testify' Training by Tim Johnson from the Ohio Poverty Law Center

We encourage attendance and participation of these events as they teach how to grow citizenship skills. Spend an evening taking time to learn how you can take a stand to make a change in our education system. These trainings will focus on current Ohio Legislation House Bills 322 & 327 which aim to criminalize the teaching of diverse concepts in K-12 and even Higher Education Institutions. As the hearing for both of these bills is coming very soon this is your chance to learn how you can get your voice heard because your voice matters!

When: Today, 7-8 p.m. via Zoom
Meeting ID: 811 7824 9260
Passcode: 087984 Zoom Link

4. Fundraising Opportunity at the Slater Family Ice Arena

The Slater Family Ice Arena is offering a fundraising opportunity for student groups/organizations after Falcon hockey home games for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

Your group would be responsible for cleaning the stands after Falcon hockey games. This includes picking up large trash items such as cans and bottles, sweeping underneath the bleachers, as well as spot mopping any spills that occur that occur during or after the game.

If you are interested in learning more about this fundraising opportunity or have any questions, please contact Graduate Assistant Ryan Watson (rjwatso@bgsu.edu) for more information.

5. Please Keep Masks Out of Recycling and Off the Ground

Masks, gloves, paper towels, and other PPE are NEVER recyclable and belong in the trash. Their presence in recycling containers, or thrown on the ground as litter across campus endangers the health and safety of our staff. These items also contaminate the entire load of recycling, causing it to go to the landfill. Please do your part and keep these items in the trash, and share this information with others.

2. Canvas New Quizzes Workshop

“New Quizzes” is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the current quizzes functionality (Classic Quizzes) in Canvas. “New Quizzes” will be enabled for instructors to begin to familiarize themselves with the tool. There are new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots. Some other improvements you may notice include a more streamlined way to manage item banks and the ability to copy quizzes.

Instructors will have the option to continue to use the current assessment feature “Classic Quizzes” through December 2022 when the vendor will discontinue its use. Instructors will be prompted to choose between “Classic Quizzes” and “New Quizzes” when building a quiz in Canvas. It is recommend that any new course assessments use “New Quizzes” beginning in July 2021. Here is a video demonstrating the “Classic Quizzes” and “New Quizzes” selection options.

The Center for Faculty Excellence is offering workshops this summer. Register for the upcoming workshops.
