1. Volunteers needed for in-person commencement ceremonies

You are invited be a part of one of the most important days in the lives of the next class of BGSU alumni. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable. This spring, we will hold ceremonies outdoors, rain or shine, at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. There will be six ceremonies occurring April 30 - May 2.

All registered volunteers will receive a commencement volunteer T-shirt. Complimentary meals will be provided to those volunteering to work more than one ceremony on either Saturday or Sunday.

2. Amended University Policy

3. Softball doubleheader vs. Toledo today

The Falcon softball team hosts the rival Rockets today at Meserve Field in a MAC doubleheader. The first game will begin at 1 p.m. While game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. Limited seats are available, so feel free to watch the game here.

4. Today's Outdoor BodyPump moved indoors

Today's Outdoor BodyPump class today from 5:30-6:30 p.m. has been moved indoors due to the expected chance of thunderstorms. It will now be held inside the Student Recreation Center, Studio B.

6. BGSU Science Cafe: Medicated Streams

Join us for our virtual Science Cafe Event on Thursday, April 29, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.! Registration is required. See below for more details.

Dr. Kevin McCluney is an associate professor in BGSU's Department of Biological Sciences whose research focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of global change in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. He will discuss the impacts of human use of legal and illegal pharmaceuticals on aquatic and streamside food webs. A short talk will be followed by a panel discussion including collaborators and students involved in the research.

7. Ridge Street and Lot 6 Closure

Beginning Monday, May 3, 2021 until August, 2021, as part of the CCP Infrastructure Ridge Street Tunnel Repairs Project, Lot 6, Ridge Street and the adjacent north and south sidewalks will be closed between Eppler North and Lot 6. The south lane of Ridge Street, up to this point, will still remain open for deliveries and emergency access only by means of the gate at the northwest entrance of Lot N.

Also, as noted on the Campus map, the Union/Hayes area phase 1 chilled water installation work east of the Student Union, will be starting on May 3 and continue until June 14.

Alternative pedestrian route detour signage will be set up for the new work areas near the Union.

8. SRC Summer Splash Membership

The Summer Splash Membership is valid starting May 3 - August 31. Price per Individual is $89 and $10 to add a dependent. Locker rentals are now available and parking is an additional fee.

9. Single-Sign-On required for Zoom beginning May 6

On Thursday, May 6, 2020, Information Technology Services (ITS) will implement single-sign-on (SSO) integration for Zoom that will require users to login using their BGSU username and password.

10. CSS & HCM PeopleSoft Get Current/PeopleTools Upgrade

On Friday, May 14, at 5 p.m., ITS will begin the CSS and HCM Get Current 2021 upgrade with PeopleTools 8.58 implementation. All tasks are scheduled for completion no later than 6 a.m. on Monday, May 17. During this time, an outage will occur to the Campus Solutions (CSS) and Human Capital Management (HCM) applications. Get Current is the term for applying the latest software update to BGSU’s existing version of the PeopleSoft software. ITS will continue to Get Current with all PeopleSoft applications on a yearly cycle.

11. Grab-N-Go Food Bags

The Bowling Green State University food assistance programs provide short-term solutions for students who are experiencing food insecurity. The Grab-N-Go Food bags provides 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for up to 3 days. Fill out this form to request a bag. Was Camelot a silly place? Find out in the topics course "Medieval Legends" (CLCV 3880) this Fall! Ride off into the world of knights and knaves, kings and queens, witches and warlocks as you enter the storied and complex worlds of King Arthur, Queen Guinevere, and Merlin. Study the legends of medieval chivalry through reading and discussion of primary texts in English translation; we'll connect medieval legend to other kinds of storytelling, and discuss the use of medieval legend in the modern world.

15. Chance to win $25 gift card: Research study

Are you a family member or romantic partner of an adult (18+) who is diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? If this applies to you, please consider participating in this research study. The aim of this study is to measure the needs and experiences of individuals who provide informal support to someone living with PTSD. If you decide to participate, you will first view and respond to a consent form. Then you will answer some questions to assess for your eligibility. If you are eligible to continue, you will be asked to answer some more questions about your demographics, your family members’ demographics, and other survey measures about your needs and experiences. You can be entered in a raffle to receive one of six $25 gift cards to your choice of locations (Amazon or Walmart) for participating in this study. 2. Great summer course to satisfy the BGP math requirement!

POLS 2900 is a great course for getting the BGP math / quantitative literacy requirement out of the way this summer!

There’s no need for statistics and research methods to be boring! The course incorporates loads of interesting examples from government and politics to keep things interesting.

Taught asynchronously online, the summer version of POLS 2900 is designed for students who may be off campus, working part-time and /or full-time, or taking other classes.

POLS 2900 is required of political science majors, but OPEN TO ALL undergraduates, regardless of major.

4. Take BGP course Intro to American Culture online!

ACS2000 Intro to American Culture Studies will be available online this summer during Session 6W1 (5/26 – 7/08). This course will ask you to begin to think critically about American culture(s) and the values held therein. By learning to think critically—that is, by learning to ask questions, to be skeptical, to uncover and challenge assumptions—we will be on our way to discovering what types of issues, struggles, and debates lie beneath all those values, and thus to understanding the complexity of life in the contemporary United States. 5. Take BGP course Intro to Ethnic Studies this summer!

Available this summer during sessions 6W1 & 6W2, Intro to Ethnic Studies is an introductory-level survey course that explores issues of race and ethnicity in the United States. The course investigates ideologies of race in the United States and the ways in which these ideologies shaped the US as a nation, as well as the lives of African Americans, Native Americans and the immigrants entering the U.S. from the eighteenth to the twentieth century. Furthermore, the course explores the attempts of racialized groups to claim equality in the US. The course uses primary documents, historical writings, personal narratives, fiction, census documents, newspaper reports, and multimedia to examine issues of race and ethnicity. ETHN 1010 fulfills BG Perspective requirement for Social and Behavioral Sciences and Cultural Diversity in the US. Please note that events take place during the week and on weekends. Event and weekend availability is required.

1. Monitor actions of all patrons to enforce rules and safety protocol.
2. Provide first class quality customer service.
3. Help guests locate their assigned seats and report any ticketing problems to a supervisor.
4. Assist with building conversions - daily and for special events.
5. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

1. Digital Humanities graduate class online this summer!

Take ACS6820 Digital Humanities: Intersections and Praxis this summer during Session 6W1 (5/26 – 7/08). This course will expose students to content and hands-on exercises that will help them think through what it means to plan and enact “Anti-racist Feminist Digital humanities” projects. Students will also be introduced to data visualization using the open source software “Gephi.” This course counts towards the WS (Women’s Studies) Grad Certificate. 2. Update: Fall 2021 Canvas Webex Decommission

ITS will decommission the Canvas Webex integration at the end of the Fall 2021 Semester. In response to faculty input, the Canvas Zoom integration was implemented during the Fall 2020 Semester as a replacement for Webex. Faculty who have not yet made the transition to Zoom should prepare to do so in the coming months, which includes the export of videos currently stored in Webex. 3. CBA Research Incentives

Over 100 bargaining unit faculty members engaged in grant-funded research and creative activities during fiscal years 2019 and 2020 received over $100,000 in professional development funds in accordance with the university’s collective bargaining agreement. These funds were provided by the VP for Research & Economic Engagement to incentivize faculty involvement with grant funded work.
