Commencement Volunteers

Commencement is a special time for our University community. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable. 

Our volunteer registration form is below. At this time we are not assigning specific volunteer roles during registration. Positions will be assigned and additional details will be communicated as the ceremonies approach. If you have any questions, please email

Vounteer Position Descriptions (will be assigned)

Ushers/Wayfinding - 
Volunteers are needed to direct and assist our graduates, guests and faculty/staff members from various parking lots to the staging and seating areas.

Golf Cart Drivers - Volunteers will drive golf carts for our elderly and special accommodation guests who attend the Commencement ceremony.  If assigned, youu must submit a Risk Management form for clearance to drive the golf carts on campus.

Special Accommodation/ADA/Presidential Seating - Volunteers will assist with seating guests in reserved sections. 

What to wear to the ceremony

  • All registered volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt which can be worn while you are volunteering. 
  • If you prefer not to wear a t-shirt, please wear orange and brown business casual apparel to help our visitors recognize you as representing BGSU.
  • Please wear your University nametag if you have one and comfortable shoes. 
  • All volunteers must wear a face covering and practice physical distancing.
