The Classified Staff Spirit of BG Award Committee is pleased to accept January nominations for the Classified Spirit of BG Award. Every qualified nominee will be recognized and presented a certificate of appreciation and their nomination(s) published in the Campus Update each month.
There are no limits on nominations throughout the year. Qualified nominations submitted from May through the following April will be placed in a drawing at the annual Classified Staff Awards Ceremony in May to win one of 12 monetary prizes.

Due to COVID-19, the submission deadline for BGSU's annual Embracing Global Engagement conference has been extended to Jan. 11, 2021.
If you have studied abroad in the last year, worked on a project with a global/international focal point, are an international student or have participated in intercultural/international programs within the US, come share your experience with your peers and polish your professional profile at the same time. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to participate!
Choose to present your scholarly work and personal experiences as a PowerPoint presentation, poster presentation, or video for BGSU's annual Embracing Global Engagement conference. Your presentation will be added to those already on the conference website at bgsu.edu/ege as well as to the official program.

Did you grow up with a mother with depression? Are you currently between 18 and 29 years of age? Are you interested in earning a $25 Amazon gift card by participating in an online interview?
My name is Kevin Walker, and I am a graduate student in BGSU’s clinical psychology doctoral program. I am conducting individual interviews with young adults to learn more about their experiences growing up with a mother with depression.
Interviews are being conducted via WebEx, and will last for approximately 90 minutes. If you’d like to share your experiences, I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you!

Did you experience restriction of your food consumption by your primary caregiver(s) during childhood? Are you a female between the ages of 18 - 30 with an elevated body mass index (BMI)? If this applies to you, please consider participating in a research study. The aim of this study is to gain insight on female adults’ experiences of food restriction during childhood. By participating in this study, you will be able to share your childhood eating experiences with a doctoral student in clinical psychology through a one-on-one interview via online video conferencing. Monetary compensation ($20) is provided for those who participate in the interview.
If you experienced food restriction during childhood, are a female between the ages of 18 and 30, have a BMI in the overweight or obese range, and are interested in participating in this study, please email Rachel Redondo (rredond@bgsu.edu) for more information about this study.

The Hybrid Hurdle: Transitioning Instruction to Meet Student Learning Needs
This workshop aims to prepare BGSU faculty members to construct plans for hybrid teaching and learning strategies. Faculty will focus on engaging online and onsite students in a Hybrid classroom using active learning strategies and standard room computer, video and audio equipment. Hybrid models will be demonstrated. Faculty will also explore digital content options and resources for students to engage during class meetings. University guidelines for student interaction in the hybrid classroom will also be adopted.

Keep Them Doing: Active Learning Strategies and Technologies for Remote Synchronous Learning
The shift to synchronous remote teaching provides an opportunity to embrace a new modality and explore new ways to format class time. In this workshop, we will explore effective ways to engage students in synchronous online environments. Participants will learn several engagement tools and techniques that can be adapted to their particular teaching style.

All Bowling Green Perspective (BGP) courses have approved learning outcomes that are to be assessed at the end of the semester. This session will discuss the BGP learning outcomes assessment process, show you how to import your assessment and learning outcomes rubric from the BGP shell and how to complete the assessment in your active Canvas course. Be sure to review your BGP Course Review Proposal and the assessment plan before attending this session.

New Quizzes will be replacing the classic quizzes functionality currently existing in Canvas by Summer 2021. Faculty will have the option to create quizzes and exams using New Quizzes beginning in December 2020.
The CFE is offering a workshop that will demonstrate how to create and manage assessments using New Quizzes in Canvas. New Quizzes can be used to create assessments using a variety of new question types including Categorization & Hot Spots. New Quizzes assessments display as assignments in the Assignments page and will be able to be duplicated as well as many other new features that will be discussed in this workshop.

Attend this session to have your questions about completing Student Achievement Assessment Committee (SAAC) reports answered. The purpose of the SAAC short-form assessment report is to identify and describe the programmatic Learning Outcomes that were assessed this academic year and how the results are being applied to improve programs. The goal of the SAAC long-form assessment report is to describe the assessments completed during past academic years and how the results are being applied to improve programs. Clarifying information about SAAC short-form and long-form reports will be provided.

This workshop will highlight methods of teaching in which instructors and students work together to create a supportive physical or virtual learning environment that gives each student equal access to learning and to ensure that both teacher and student participation promote thoughtfulness, inclusiveness, belonging and mutual respect. Participants will review basic concepts and strategies related to inclusive pedagogy; work in groups to explore inclusive teaching strategies; identify two actionable tasks; and help shape and direct inclusive pedagogy at Bowling Green State University.

The BGSU Center of Faculty Excellence has agreed to support a learning community that is different from learning communities of the past. The “Excellence in Online Teaching” learning community members will discuss approaches to teaching and highlight technology tools. We will support each other as we continue to learn new strategies to promote student success with remote and online learning.

Canvas Studio makes it easy for faculty to create engaging videos and for students to participate in dynamic conversations as they view the video independently. It provides a platform for students to interact and participate. Instructors can access useful analytics and insights like which videos people are watching, for how long and when they stop watching.
