Welcome to teaching at BGSU!

The Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) has developed targeted resources to assist you in your first year of teaching at BGSU. This page outlines resources specific to new faculty members. You also are invited to participate in CFE workshops and eventscertificate programs, and communities of practice.

New Faculty Orientation

All new full-time faculty (QRF and TTF) are required to attend the New Faculty Orientation at the beginning of the academic year. This event complements any orientation programming offered by your unit. The 2024 New Faculty Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Olscamp 101. The schedule, and other event details will be shared with departments and new faculty as we get closer to the event.

New Faculty Orientation Canvas Repository

The New Faculty Orientation Canvas Repository is an online repository of information that is of value to you during your first year of teaching at BGSU and beyond. The repository contains information about New Faculty Orientation, campus and community resources, as well as teaching and course design support.

 NCFDD

Through Bowling Green State University’s institutional membership, all faculty, instructors, staff, graduate students, and postdoctoral scholars have access to the NCFDD, which provides professional development, training, and mentoring activities. NCFDD resources are broadly applicable across academic disciplines and include a range of topics such as time management, overcoming academic perfectionism, how to develop a daily writing plan, how to write grant proposals, and more.
