Delaney Shin

Visual Arts

Delaney Shin is an artist from Minnesota. Growing up, she has an interest in the sciences and arts. She received her BFA at the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2021. She works in a collage approach and is interested in the particularities of nature around us. Organic structures such as coral, mushrooms, and foliage are some visually compelling treasures that provide inspiration to her.

Looking for anomalies in nature, she uses her work to serve as an intersection for understanding her own identity. In science, the word anomaly is used to describe something that deviates from a standard. Similar to how there are irregularities in nature, the anomaly manifests the idea of being biracial, which is a stand-in for herself. Her work consists of abstract forms that bring homage and a language to these notions.
