The College of Technology, Architecture and Applied Engineering is proud to provide scholarship support for students. These scholarships are provided through the generosity of alumni and friends of BGSU. Awarding of the scholarships is based on a competitive process. The amount awarded reflects the wishes of the donor(s) and is dependent upon current and projected market conditions.  

  • If financial aid is a requirement you must complete a FAFSA application to be considered for the scholarship.
  • You must be enrolled for the applicable academic year to be eligible for these awards.

AIAA Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships program offers scholarships to college sophomores, juniors, and seniors each year, and recipients can apply to renew their scholarship annually until they reach graduation.

Ohio APWA has multiple opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.

American Society for Quality - Toledo Section
Toledo ASQ is currently accepting applications for the 2019 Quality Legacy Scholarship competition.  The scholarship is awarded to a high school senior or college student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time, two or four-year program of study at an accredited college or university.

For more than 50 years, the Builders Exchange has provided tuition assistance to deserving college students in construction-related fields of study. Majors of recent recipients have ranged from architecture, to landscaping, to engineering and construction management.

Flexible Pavements of Ohio
Flexible Pavements of Ohio (FPO) and its member companies, working through the Ohio Asphalt Scholarship Fund and the National Asphalt Pavement Association Research and Education Foundation (NAPAREF), sponsor a series of asphalt pavement scholarships at ten universities in Ohio, which offer courses in asphalt pavement technology. Scholarships are awarded for the academic year beginning in the fall and running through the following spring.

Hubstaff's Scholarship for Ambitious Tech Students
Hubstaff is offering a bi-annual scholarship for all students in technical and IT related programs. Students just need to submit an essay and be maintaining a 3.5 GPA or better to be eligible. The winner will be chosen based on based on merit, financial need, academic standing, community participation, and the quality of the essay.

Norman J. Crabtree Memorial Aviation Scholarship
Recipients are selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee on the basis of meeting eligibility requirements, academic record, recommendation letters and an essay on educational and career goals. In principle and in practice, OAA values and seeks diverse and inclusive participation from the aviation business community. OAA promotes involvement and expanded access to leadership opportunity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, nationality, cultural identity, disability, appearances, geographic location, professional level, political views or affiliations.

Timothy Riley PE, PS, Memorial Scholarship
The scholarship is a (3) year, $5,000 per year scholarship issued biennially to (1) rising Sophomore in BGSU’s Construction Management program. The recipient will have a check made out Bowling Green University each August in the amount of $5,000 provided all criteria are met. Qualifying students must pursue a bachelors of science degree in Construction Management.

Incoming Freshman Scholarships

  • University Freshman Academic Scholarships range from $1,000-$9,500
  • Regular admission (high school GPA and ACT or SAT): Scholarship consideration starts at 3.0 cumulative high school GPA and 20 ACT or 1040 SAT
  • Test optional admission (high school GPA only): Scholarship consideration starts at 3.0 cumulative high school GPA
  • No additional application required
  • Must complete application and be admitted by Jan. 18, 2023
  • $1,000 to $3,000 renewable scholarship
  • Must have minimum 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT OR 3.0 GPA and 1040 SAT
  • Out-of-state students encouraged to apply; award based on commitment to diversity
  • Must complete application, file FAFSA and be admitted to BGSU by January 18, 2023
  • $4,000 scholarship for students who live outside of Ohio (That’s half off the non-resident fee!)
  • Must have 3.0 GPA OR 20 ACT OR 1040 SAT
  • No additional application required
  • Must be an incoming freshman
  • Must be enrolled in or have a declared major within the School of Built Environment in the College of Technology, Architecture, and Applied Engineering
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Preference will be given to students from historically marginalized groups
  • Additional preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA
  • Awards are eligible for renewal for up to 3 years while pursuing an undergraduate degree, provided the recipient maintains good academic standing and remains in the School of Built Environment.

What are the Types of Financial Aid?

  • BGSU awards an average of 5,800 scholarships totaling approximately $25 million each year
  • Scholarships are considered gift aid and generally do not require repayment
  • Awards are based on academic achievement, service, talent and need
  • We also accept scholarships awarded by outside organizations
  • Grants are need-based and do not require repayment
  • Federal and state grants are limited to lower-income students
  • Student loans must be repaid and they accumulate interest
  • Federal Direct Student Loan for Undergraduate Students is available to help meet educational costs
  • Parent PLUS Loans may also be offered to parents to help students cover their remaining balance
  • BGSU employs approximately 4,000 students on campus throughout the year
  • Student employees work an average of 15 to 20 hours per week
  • Students earn at least $8.15 per hour
  • Students may also qualify for work study if they indicate interest on their FAFSA
