3. Thompson award nominations

BGSU community,

We're excited to host an end-of-the-year Thompson Scholarship Program (TFS) celebration in April where we'll recognize our BGSU faculty, staff, students, spring and summer graduates and other award recipients. We need your help, so make an award nomination today.

Submissions are due by March 28 at 11:59 p.m.

With a deep commitment to the power of education to change lives, Robert and Ellen Thompson have focused on supporting K-12 as well as higher education. Their gifts to Bowling Green State University include funding for the construction of a student union, named the Bowen-Thompson Student Union in their honor. They also established the Thompson Scholarship in the Sidney A. Ribeau President’s Leadership Academy. In 2014, Robert and Ellen created the Thompson Working Families Scholarship Program, expanding it in 2019 to provide significant financial support to thousands of promising students.

The Thompson's generosity and dedication to assisting others had a positive effect on countless students today. The Thompsons have made the decision to create fundamental changes in people's lives in order to improve our communities. They achieved this by acting on their words while courageously and subtly giving an outstanding demonstration of the "public good". We appreciate everything they have done and continue to do. Learn more about Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. Please contact DeVona Smith at smithdd@bgsu.edu if you have questions.

5. Create cards of happiness

Join the National Society of Leadership and Success in our community service event, Cardz For Kidz. This nationwide organization's sole goal is to provide hospitalized children with hope and happiness through the use of handmade cards.

From now until March 24 you can make greeting cards. Once finished you can take your handmade cards to Hayes Hall Room 301 and ask for Brittany Krisanda.

Stay tuned for an in-person event; a date is to be given shortly. We can make more cards together as well as drop off previously made cards.

We ask you to not say things like, "stay strong" or "get well soon". Instead, share jokes or say things such as "you are awesome!" or "you are so brave". For more information in making cards check out Cardz For Kidz or e-mail Mason Lewis at lewisma@bgsu.edu.
