2. Another Innocent Lost
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is seeing a recent rise in violence in a decades-long conflict. With this rise of violence comes a major need to discuss what is happening and what might be done. Come join a critical discussion on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We invite people of all different views and backgrounds to take part from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, in BTSU 315. 3. From BGSU Baseball to New Business Ventures: Leadership and Entrepreneurship with Orel Hershiser
The key hallmarks of entrepreneurs are their grit, determination and perseverance in the face of challenges. Orel Hershiser, also known as “Bull Dog,” is much more than one of major league baseball’s most well-known and respected retired pitchers. He has transcended beyond sport to become an American icon known for overcoming obstacles and persevering onward to success. Not just success in baseball or broadcasting, but in all aspects of his life. A best-selling author of two books, BGSU Athletics Hall of Famer Orel Hershiser embodies BGSU’s entrepreneurial and community spirit. Join us as Hershiser shares insights on leadership and entrepreneurship, providing valuable advice for embracing entrepreneurial thinking and overcoming challenges for your career and life journey.

4. Attend the Holiday Fair to shop local and support student entrepreneurs!

The Holiday Fair will take place from 12:30 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, in the the Schmeltz Atrium of the Maurer Center. This event is an excellent opportunity to support student entrepreneurs as they showcase their small businesses and side hustles, sell their unique products and spread cheer to our community. 5. CFP: Class consciousness, pop culture and academia
Call for papers - Approaching Academia: A Conference on Class and Culture
Inspired by Ray Browne, the founder of Popular Culture Studies at BGSU, this conference seeks to give “education a broader base and greater richness” through the exploration of why and how popular culture and class are interconnected. We hope to brainstorm, workshop and develop a pedagogic approach to bringing class studies into the classroom while also giving a voice to the students most impacted by economic uncertainties.
The key areas of the conference include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Pedagogy and class studies
- Class representations in popular culture
- Class issues in academia
- Labor unions in contemporary culture
- Social outreach and activism
Interested parties and individuals are encouraged to submit their proposals by Friday, Dec. 1, to classcon@bgsu.edu. No cost to submit. Free for both in-person and online attendance.

6. Earn up to $35 by completing a study looking at pictures!
The Department of Psychology is conducting a study examining people’s reactions to viewing pictures of different body images.
Eligibility criteria:
- 18-30 years old
- Identify as female
- Normal vision/hearing with or without correction (e.g., glasses, contacts, hearing aid etc.)
- Functioning smartphone/computer
By filling out the survey, you can choose one of the following compensations:
- Entered into a raffle to win one of five $25 Amazon gift cards
- One half SONA credit
- Extra credit in participating classes (must be approved by professor beforehand).
Complete the pre-screening survey, which takes approximately five minutes. If you are taking the survey for SONA credit, you must access the survey through SONA.
If eligible after taking the survey, the principle investigator, Aubrey Dauber, will email you to invite you to part two of the study, which is a 30-45 minute in-person lab experiment. Part two of the study requires participants to email of photo of themselves so the experiment can be customized to you! You will also wear three facial electrodes so eyeblink data can be collected while viewing images of body pictures. If you are not a BGSU student/staff, a parking pass will be provided. By completing part two of the study, you will be compensated with a $10 Amazon gift card!

8. Holiday cheer without fear: Well-Being Series
Managing Winter and Holiday Stress is an event hosted by the Division of Community Well-Being from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3. Please register for Managing Winter and Holiday Stress!
Well-Being Series: Free 60-minutes sessions on mental well-being topics including self-care, managing anxious thoughts and emotions, managing holiday and winter stress, caring for the caregiver and recovering from burnout.

10. Rally For Reproductive Freedoms today at 4 p.m.
We invite you to the "Rally for Reproductive Freedom." This event, now in its second year, supports Issue One, striving to keep abortion legal in Ohio.
The event will take place on Wednesday, Nov.1, with a speaker at 4 p.m. in the BTSU Multipurpose Room and with a rally to follow at 5 p.m. in the Union Oval.
Our rally is non-partisan, focusing on the importance of reproductive rights for all Ohioans. Regardless of your political affiliation, we believe in the fundamental human right to reproductive freedom. The event features guest speakers, education sessions and opportunities for collaboration.

11. Dia de los Muertos - Ofrenda
In celebration of Dia de los Muertos, the Office of Multicultural Affairs has created an Ofrenda to honor loved ones who have passed. This Ofrenda is located in BTSU 427 from Nov. 1-2. Sugar skulls are also available to decorate while supplies last. Visitors are encouraged to leave a photocopied image of a loved one who has passed. For more information, contact: bryanar@bgsu.edu.

12. Falcon Family Toy Drive
The Nontraditional Student Organization, in partnership with Nontraditional and Military Student Services and The Center for Women and Gender Equity, are collecting new unwrapped toys until Friday, Nov. 3.
The toys will be distributed to our students with children on Nov. 8 at the Frosty Falcons Toy Shop to celebrate and recognize these hard-working students. Donation boxes can be found in the following locations:
- Jerome Library: First floor
- Market at Kreischer
- Market at Offenhauer
- Wellness Center - Student Recreation Center
- The Center of Women and Gender Equity – Hayes 280
- Nontraditional Military Student Services – College Park Building room 16
We will be tabling in the Union from noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, collecting toys and sharing information about the Frosty Family Toy Shop.
Students with children who wish to sign up in advance for the Frosty Falcons Toy Shop may do so at the table in the Union on Thursday, Nov. 2, from noon to 1 p.m. This is not required to attend the event.

13. “The Lover” has shows Friday and Saturday
The next Elsewhere production of the year is “The Lover" by Harold Pinter and will have performances at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, in the Eva Marie Saint Theatre in the Wolfe Center for the Arts. This show has free admission and is open to the public.
Come support the theatre department and enjoy a night of entertainment - we hope to see you there! Parking Lot "N" is free after 6 p.m. and on weekends.

2. Explore "Migration: Causes and Consequences" this spring!
Ever wondered why people migrate? And, conversely, what the consequences for those who immigrate versus those who remain behind might be? Finally, how do countries respond differently to immigrants versus emigrants?
In SOC 3000: Migration, we will explore these questions through books, media and guest speakers. This course should be of interest to students who plan to work with diverse populations and those who are concerned about global inequality.

1. Making the most of your academic conference experience
We invite graduate students to attend a special session titled "How to Make the Most of Your Academic Conference" from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, on Zoom (Meeting ID: 824 6064 0716, Passcode: 2023).
