1. Attend From BGSU Baseball to New Business Ventures: Leadership and Entrepreneurship with Orel Hershiser
The key hallmarks of entrepreneurs are their grit, determination and perseverance in the face of challenges. Orel Hershiser, also known as “Bull Dog,” is much more than one of major league baseball’s most well-known and respected retired pitchers. He has transcended beyond sport to become an American icon known for overcoming obstacles and persevering onward to success. Not just success in baseball or broadcasting, but in all aspects of his life.
A best-selling author of two books, BGSU Athletics Hall of Famer Orel Hershiser embodies BGSU’s entrepreneurial and community spirit. Join us as Hershiser shares insights on leadership and entrepreneurship, providing valuable advice for embracing entrepreneurial thinking and overcoming challenges for your career and life journey. 5. Don't miss out completely - Depression screening
The Counseling Center is offering an ongoing depression screening, in collaboration with Let's Talk, in the month of October (Depression Awareness Month). From noon to 1 p.m. every Friday. 6. Free Yoga Flow and Reiki Oct. 27
This special class includes a 30-minute upbeat vinyasa flow incorporating exercise and breathwork, followed by 30-minutes of yin yoga with optional hands-on Reiki assistance. This is the perfect balance of yin and yang, allowing the body to become energized and then balancing that with calm breathing and slow stretching.
This class is offered at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at the Student Recreation Center in Studio B. Free for BGSU students, faculty and staff.

7. Halloween GAYme Night!
Join LGBTQ+ Programs, The Office of Multicultural Affairs Ambassadors (OMAAs) and Queer/Trans Student Union (QTSU) from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in room 308 at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union for a night of fun to embrace the Halloween Spirit! 12. Rally For Reproductive Freedoms Nov. 1
We invite you to the "Rally for Reproductive Freedom," hosted by the Bowling Green State University College Democrats. This event, now in its second year, supports Issue One, striving to keep abortion legal in Ohio.
This event will take place at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The speaker portion of the event will begin at 4 p.m. in the BTSU Multipurpose room 228. The Rally begins at 5 p.m. at the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Oval.
Our rally is non-partisan, focusing on the importance of reproductive rights for all Ohioans. Regardless of your political affiliation, we believe in the fundamental human right to reproductive freedom. The event features guest speakers, education sessions and opportunities for collaboration.

13. Swing by Shatzel Hall to view installations of ofrendas (offerings) in celebration of Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead)
The Department of Ethnic Studies and the Spanish Department are collaborating to set up ofrendas (offerings) to celebrate Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead). The altars will be on display from Oct. 31 until Nov 13. Feel free to contribute your offering to the altars.

14. Tonight! Hoops Night ft. Taylor's After Party
Are you ready for it? ... Join us as the BGSU Falcons hit the court for a ~bejeweled~ tip-off event followed by a Taylor-themed after-party that will have you singing until the final buzzer. The night kicks off with the Falcons taking center stage in a series of competitions and contests as we introduce the 2023-2024 season as the team enters a new ~era~.
Once we know the teams ~all too well~ watch as the court and chords collide for a Taylor-themed dance party full of Taylor hits, confetti showers, neon lights and friendship bracelets. Get there early because the first 500 attendees will receive a Frieda's version limited edition poster and a front-row seat. Dress code? Channel your inner Taylor by wearing an outfit from your favorite era for a chance to win merch!
Hoops Night ft. Taylor's After-Party is free of charge and designed for BGSU students, season ticket holders and fans of all ages.

15. Tonight! In the Round: Artist and historical interpreter Talon Silverhorn
In the Round, a guest speaker series featuring Native American creatives, continues with Talon Silverhorn, artist, historical interpreter and cultural programs manager for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Silverhorn’s campus talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Donnell Theatre (Wolfe Center). This event is free and open to the public. 16. Visiting artist Edie Overturf to lecture on her work
Visiting artist Edie Overturf will give a free public artist lecture at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 30, in FAC 1215. Edie will also be printing an edition of her work in the print studio throughout the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are welcome to stop by to see her work in progress.
Edie Overturf currently lives in Portland and teaches printmaking, drawing and visual storytelling at Mount Hood Community College. She is a recipient of numerous awards and grants, including a Jerome Emerging Artist Fellowship, two Minnesota State Arts Board grants, the Larry Sommers Fellowship from Seattle Print Arts and the Waddell Printmaker of the Year 2023 award from Whitney Center for the Arts. Additionally, Overturf has been a resident artist at several institutions, including Kala Art Institute (CA), InCahoots (CA), Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Center for Contemporary Printmaking (CT).

17. Well-O-Ween Walk & pumpkin decorating Oct. 31
Move for your mood and join us for a Well-O-Ween Walk! Stop by anytime between 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31, in the Perry Field House track room to treat yourself to a short and energizing Halloween-themed walk with great company. 7. Internship opportunity at ICS
For BGSU students (both graduate and undergraduate) - Are you looking for opportunities to put your academic research and writing skills into practice? Are you looking for meaningful professional experience and mentorship from the convenient location of BGSU’s campus? Would you like to receive academic course credit in the process? Then apply to be an intern with BGSU’s own interdisciplinary, public humanities center - the Institute for the Study of Culture & Society (ICS).
This unpaid internship provides valuable experience in areas such as event planning and project management, social media and public relations, graphic design, research and curricular development, media production and more. Internships are typically offered each fall and spring.
Application materials are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 6, for those interested in interning in spring 2024. Please submit via email to ics@bgsu.edu the following documents:

11. Take the Healthy Minds Survey - Chance to win Amazon gift card!
Undergraduate and graduate students have been randomly selected to receive the Healthy Minds Study Survey. This is a national online survey assessing student mental health and service utilization on college campuses.
By participating in this study, you will be eligible for one of 50 $20 Amazon gift cards and it will allow your voice to be heard on the topic of mental health and well-being. The confidential information provided to faculty and administration from this study reflects students’ day-to-day experiences on campus and provides insight into both your struggles and successes. This knowledge will be used to inform policy, practice and funding for programs and services on campus, thus bettering student life.

1. 2023-24 Open Educational Resources (OER) grants applications
Are you interested in creating a high-quality Open Educational Resource (OER) to replace a costly textbook or other material in a class you’re teaching? The University Libraries invites you to apply for a grant to create an OER and use it in your classes for at least two semesters.
Grant applications are open now and will close on Nov. 27.

2. Classroom/lab software request deadline for spring 2024
The deadline for submitting software requests (for classrooms/computer labs/mobile device carts, etc.) for the spring 2024 semester is Friday, Oct. 27. This includes cloud-based software, desktop-based software, mobile apps and domain purchases. All software submission requests (including Canvas LTI integrations) are subject to the University’s software procurement review process, which checks that the software meets accessibility, legal and IT security standards with which BGSU must comply. Software not previously approved by the University can take a minimum of 45 days to be routed through the approval process.
To request software installation, please submit a Lab/Classroom Software Install Request form.

3. National Native American Heritage Month kick off - Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio (NAICCO)
The BGSU Office of Multicultural Affairs is proud to welcome Ty Smith of the Native American Indian Center of Central Ohio (NAICCO) to kick off Native American Heritage Month. Focus areas of the presentation will include: NAICCO cuisine, Land Back NAICCO, the people who bring NAICCO’s mission and vision to life and a general overview of what it means to be Native American in the U.S. today.
This event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in University Hall, room 111. Appetizers and refreshments will be available!

You can request a workshop with the CFE for your department, college or unit on a variety of topics related to creating, adapting and/or assessing courses and course content as well as implementing academic tools and technology.
