2. Navajo trip: April 30 – May 13

For nearly 25 years, BGSU faculty, students and community members have visited the Navajo Nation in Arizona and New Mexico to experience the culture, history, language, food, and life of the Navajo people. This year, we will visit from April 30 – May 13, camp at beautiful national parks, visit longtime Navajo and Pueblo friends, artists, teachers and others, and experience the beauty and solitude of the Colorado Plateau.

The cost will be approximately $1,000, all-inclusive.

The first meeting is this Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 9:00 to 10:30 p.m. in the Arts Village at Kriescher. Attendance at this first meeting is important.

If you would like more information, please contact Dr. Chris Frey at cjfrey@bgsu.edu. Ahe'hee!

3. Nominate an administrative staff member for January Spirit of BG Award!

We all know when someone goes the extra mile to help; however, this person often goes about their day with little or no fanfare to acknowledge their "good works". Now you have the opportunity to thank that person! If the individual you nominate is selected, they will receive $75, public recognition from colleagues and friends, and a certificate of appreciation. Nominate an administrative staff member for the January Spirit of BG award!

4. ICS hosts disability advocate Rosemarie Garland-Thomson

The Institute for the Study of Culture & Society (ICS) along with Xi Phi Beta Kappa, is hosting author and Emory professor emerita Dr. Rosemarie Garland-Thomson. Her presentation, “Building a World that Includes Disability” is a reflection of the academic work that has defined her career. It will explore our understanding of disability and how that term is defined by history, culture, politics and aesthetics, and it will ask us to rethink how the world includes disability, how we can better build that world to share and live together and answer why that world would be better for us all.

“Building a World That Includes Disability” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom, Bowen-Thompson Student Union. The presentation is free to attend. ASL interpreting will be available at the live event and on livestream. Closed captioning will be available on the livestream.
