Campus Update ArchiveGet paid a $5 Amazon or Starbucks gift card to taste two meatball samples. To participate, you must be at least 18 years old, have lived in the United States for at least 15 years, be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, have not tested positive for COVID-19 in the past three months, eat meat, have no food allergies, and have no issues with your sense of taste and smell. If you qualify, you will be asked to eat a meatball made with beef and pork and a plant-based meatball. You will then be asked to answer some questions about the meatballs and other questions. The taste test should take about 15-20 minutes.

Kids Camp programming is designed for children in kindergarten through 6th grade (ages 5 - 12) emphasizing physical development and education while promoting a healthy lifestyle. Activities are conducted primarily at the BGSU Student Recreation Center and Perry Field House. Walking field trips, special guests and sport instruction are offered to complement the foundation of recreational, leisure and social activities on which the camps are founded.

Please join BGSU ENG 3150 students in celebrating comics and zines. Students will share and sell comics and zines they wrote, illustrated and designed on Saturday, April 23, from 10 a.m. to noon at Grounds for Thought.
The Optimal Aging Institute (OAI) is accepting applications for their small grants awards ($500 to $1,000). Grant funds through the OAI are designed for original scholarship, seed money or pilot data. Applicants may be full-time faculty or graduate-level students with support from a full-time faculty member. The upcoming deadline for submission is May 1. Taught online from May 16 to June 24, ACS 3000/WS 3000 101W 40066 will take a closer look at how gender, sexuality and identity have been essential in the evolution of comics, and highlight the need to re-frame our perspective on comics history. This course will cover contemporary classics, including Alison Bechel’s Fun Home, as well as some superhero narratives, graphic memoirs, webtoons/digital comics and comic transmedia (film, television, fan media, etc.). POPC2800 101W 42053 6/27-8/5. This course covers the History of Rock and Roll and Popular Music. This course highlights different genres of popular music including, rap/hip-hop, punk, heavy metal, reggae, blues, rockability and others. This course explores the relationship between musical styles, trends in popular music, popular performers and entertainers and what they reveal about popular music and popular culture. The Gerontology Student Association is hosting an event for Careers in Aging Week for students to learn about and meet with individuals in a range of positions working with older adults.
Speakers will discuss their current careers in community aging services, activities in residential communities, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, marketing and nursing home administration.

Each academic year, the Center for Faculty Excellence accepts applications to fill the three available positions for Faculty Associates. Faculty Associates partner with the Center for Faculty Excellence to serve as a resource and an active participant with other faculty, staff, administrators and graduate students to reach the strategic goals of the CFE. Faculty Associates assist the CFE with the design and implementation of professional development. Faculty who participate as associates with the CFE will receive an academic year stipend of up to $5,000. Stipends are to be disbursed at the end of the academic year, pending review and approval by the associate director.

Synopsis: This flipped session is designed to help BGSU faculty, administrators, post docs, staff and graduate students communicate their research findings to broader publics for the public good. Prior to the scheduled session, participants will be invited to view the NCFDD webinar titled “How to Translate Your Research for a General Audience,” which is presented by Dr. Danielle Bainbridge (a host of the PBS Digital Studies series “The Origin of Everything” and a faculty member at Northwestern University). During the session, BGSU members will convene to discuss and practice some of the strategies from the webinar.
