1. Campus Wireless Upgrade Project Conversion Schedule Now Available

Information Technology Services (ITS) has posted the building conversion schedule for the Campus Wireless Upgrade Project on the project website. This schedule includes the building names, the week the building is scheduled for conversion and the current conversion status.

ITS will reach out to college and department administrators directly in advance of the upgrade as a reminder and to communicate additional information including what users can expect during and after the upgrade.

2. Falcon Fitness Challenge

The AROTC Falcon Fitness Challenge is almost here! Join Falcon Fitness and BGSU Army ROTC for a competition running Sept. 27 to Nov. 19! You will be performing different exercises each week and competing against the community of BGSU and Bowling Green. There will be 5 men and 5 women winners each week who will win a prize. Health and safety precautions will be in place to keep everyone safe. The challenges will take place at the Rec Center & the weekly drop-in times are listed below:
• Mondays: 5:30–7 p.m.
• Tuesdays: 2–4 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 4–5 p.m.
• Thursdays: Noon–2 p.m.
• Fridays: 1:30–3 p.m.

3. Fall CURS Grant Application Closing Soon

The 2nd Round of Fall CURS Grant Application Round is NOW OPEN.

Undergraduate research/scholarly/creative projects of 1-2 students with a faculty mentor in ANY discipline or field are funded with up to $500 toward project costs and a $200 stipend per student. Group projects (3-5 students) can ask for up to $750 with a $200 stipend for each student.

Application Deadline to apply is Monday, September 20.

Applications are currently accepted at our website.

Application consists of:
Completion of online form (student(s) information, faculty mentor(s) information, general project information)
Upload Project narrative (2-3 pages)
Upload Budget (itemized list of anticipated purchases with individual costs & the total amount requested)
Upload Reference Letter(s) by faculty mentor(s) indicating their support of the student and the project

4. Film Screening and Talk, The White Helmets

5. Fundraising Opportunity at the Slater Family Ice Arena

The Slater Family Ice Arena is offering a fundraising opportunity for student groups/organizations after Falcon hockey home games for the upcoming 2021/2022 season.

Your group would be responsible for cleaning the stands after Falcon hockey games. This includes picking up large trash items such as cans and bottles, sweeping underneath the bleachers, as well as spot mopping any spills that occur during or after the game.

6. Graduate Fair Week

Come one, come all to Grad Fair 2021 - a spectacular, high-flying week of in-person and virtual events under the big top (aka University Hall).

While there won't actually be any acrobats or rings of fire, there will be plenty of engaging presentations and panel discussions on BGSU's Graduate College and its programs, as well as information on external graduate and professional schools. There will also be opportunities for 1:1 sessions.

This is your once-in-a-school-year chance at a front-row seat to the greatest gathering of grad resources on BGSU's campus! Grad Fair 2021 will be held Sept. 27 through Oct. 1.

7. Insurance and Risk Management Institute Symposium

The Department of Finance is inviting all faculty, staff and students to the Insurance and Risk Management Institute Symposium- "Insurance Industry During and After the Pandemic". This event will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 in Bowen-Thompson Student Union Room 206. Registration begins at 3. Students that attends will receive 50 SCoB points.

8. Paint tote bags to support BGSU AMWA

Come create your own tote bag to support the American Medical Women's Association. The event is on September 20th from 7pm-9pm in BTSU 207. Cost is $6 venmo and cash accepted. All supplies and totes are provided.

9. September Blood Drive donors and volunteers needed

If you need volunteer hours or are looking to find a way to give back to those in need helping with September's upcoming blood drive is a simple way to do so. This even will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 22nd, 23rd, and 24th in Olscamp 101. Donors wil recieve free apparel and food following their donation. 11. Student Ticketing for Homecoming Game

We are excited to welcome all students to all of our Falcon Athletics home games! Students receive one free season ticket to each of our ticketed sports: Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Women’s Basketball, and Men’s Basketball.

Admission is FREE for all other sports.

All tickets will be digital and can be accessed through your Ticket Office account. Accounts will be created for new students. Once tickets become available, another e-mail will be sent with instructions on how to login and access your tickets!

12. Free Mindfulness Workshops

Focused Falcon Mindful Moments Workshop are free 4-week workshops offered to help manage stress, strengthen focus and attention, and increase memory. Additional key components of the workshop include learning mindfulness meditation, stress management techniques, methods to respond to difficult situations, and skills to live with intention and purpose. Introductory and advanced workshops are available

9. Public Service? $30,000 Truman Scholarship

The Truman Scholarship is a nationally competitive $30,000 merit-based grant awarded to undergraduate students who wish financial support to attend graduate or professional school in preparation for careers in government/public service. The Foundation seeks candidates who:
1.) have extensive records of public and community service,
2.) are committed to careers in government or elsewhere in public service,
3.) and have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills.

You must be a Junior to apply. A pre-application is due in the Honors College office (024 Founders Hall) before 5:00pm on October 15th. A faculty committee will review the materials and make recommendations for BGSU nominees. You do NOT have to be in the Honors College to be considered!

Dance Marathon will be hosting a Kick Off event on September 16th from 5:00-7:00pm in the Multipurpose Room in the Student Union to celebrate the beginning of our year of fundraising to benefit the kids at our local Miracle Network Hospital, Mercy Health - Children’s Hospital in Toledo! 13. Want a STEM Research Career? Goldwater Scholarship

The Goldwater Scholarship Program was created to encourage outstanding students majoring in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering who intend to pursue research careers in these fields. This is a nationally competitive scholarship that provides support for tuition, room and board, books and fees up to a maximum of $7,500 annually. Students can apply in their sophomore and/or junior year only.

2. CFE Lab: Building Community and Collaborating Online

Throughout the Building Community and Collaborating workshops we discussed theoretical frameworks and pedagogical strategies aimed at creating inclusive and engaging environments in our online, remote, or hybrid courses. The next step is to apply the strategies discussed and utilize our Canvas tools to create welcoming online spaces, enhance collaboration, and increase student engagement. During this designated lab time, an Instructional Designer will review tools in Canvas and be available to assist you as you work on incorporating community-building and collaborative aspects in your course design and pedagogy.

Prerequisite: Previous participation in Building Community in a Virtual Classroom and/or Collaborating in a Virtual Classroom Workshops

Materials: You’ll need to bring your laptop and have access to a Canvas course shell (either your course shell or a template). You can request a blank Canvas shell to work within via the ITS website

This lab will be in Olscamp Hall room 106 on Friday, September 17th from 11:00am-12:30pm.

3. “BGP 101”--Introduction to BGSU’s gen ed program

Faculty and staff are invited to join members of the BGP Committee for an overview of BG Perspective, BGSU's general education program. This "BGP 101" session will be offered via Zoom and will allow time for questions and informal chat. Especially recommended for BGP faculty who have not previously taught BGP courses nor submitted BGP assessment data.
