1. FREE Backyard Games in the Union Oval

Intramural Sports is hosting a free introductory event! Stop by to try out Cornhole, Kan Jam, or Ladder Golf and have the opportunity to talk with IM staff about how to join a team or register your full team for any Fall IM sport.

2. Free HIV Testing on Campus

The Wellness Connection is providing FREE and confidential HIV testing from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in 102 Student Recreation Center! To sign up, call the Wellness Connection at 419-372-9355 (WELL).

3. Free Mindfulness Workshops

Focused Falcon Mindful Moments Workshop are free four-week workshops offered to help manage stress, strengthen focus and attention, and increase memory. Additional key components of the workshop include learning mindfulness meditation, stress management techniques, methods to respond to difficult situations, and skills to live with intention and purpose. Introductory and advanced workshops are available: register.

4. Green Roof Open House at The Oaks!

Stop by The Oaks Green Roof and enjoy our rooftop garden during the following hours! You can access the green roof by going through the BGSU Dining Administration doors (double doors next to Einstein Bagels) and going to the second floor. Sustainability interns will be available for tours, questions and more. Come enjoy this beautiful space this fall!

6. Know a student in crisis? Here's how to help!

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

The next training is Tuesday, Sept. 7, 10 to 11:30 a.m., BTSU 316. Register to learn more about how you can help create a community of care at BGSU!

7. Register for Intramural Sports

Intramural Sports registration is open now for the fall! Get involved as an individual, with your friends, or student organization by playing in-person or virtual sports. Play begins Sept. 13 in the following sports:

In-Person – Basketball, Flag Football, Volleyball, Soccer, and Backyard Games.
Cost:
Fall Semester Pass: $30/pp
Academic Year Pass: $50/pp¬

Virtual – Madden 22, NBA2k22, and FIFA 22 ALL VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING IS FREE

8. Student Staff Needed for Athletics Events

The Slater Family Ice Arena is hiring student Game Attendants for the 2021-2022 athletics season. These positions will primarily work during Falcon Hockey games but will also help with Football, Basketball, and Volleyball as needed.

During Hockey games positions include parking attendants, ushers, and bag checkers. Parking will also be needed during Football games. Basketball and Volleyball positions will be as needed.

DREAM's first meeting of the semester is going to focus on getting to know each other and talking about what kind of accommodations disabled individuals can get on campus/how to get them! 2. Audition for the Fall Dance Concert

The Department of Theatre and Film will present the Fall Dance Concert "Alight" on Nov. 19 and 20 in the Donnell Theatre. The concert will feature both pre-recorded dance videos and live performance, with tap and contemporary/modern dance works choreographed by faculty and guest artists. Dancers are called to audition on Tuesday in the Whitney Studio (222 Eppler North). Tap dancers should report at 7:45 p.m., and contemporary/modern dancers should arrive by 8:15 p.m. Contact Colleen Murphy at cmurphy@bgsu.edu to register today.

3. BGSU Club Bowling Tryouts!

Have you thought about bowling in college? Well, at 2 p.m. Sept. 11, the BGSU Bowling team will have our tryouts for the team. The event will be held at Southwyck Bowling Lanes in Toledo, 5255 Heatherdowns Blvd. Also, there is a $40 fee to tryout. It’s not too early to start building your classroom library for your first job out of college. The Lit & Learn program explores fun and exciting ways to use diverse literature so that stories of all kinds can be shared in your classroom. The Lit & Learn program works directly with the experts in the Curriculum Resource Center located in Jerome Library to prepare EDHD students in the schools of Teaching and Learning and Counseling and Special Education how to create a diverse classroom library. This workshop serves as an introduction or review of communication and collaboration strategies and tools for effective online teaching and learning. 2. Safe Zone Training for Faculty

The Safe Zone workshop promotes awareness of LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer +) people. The workshop provides education concerning LGBTQ+ issues and seeks to improve the environment for LGBTQ+ people. This workshop helps to build a support network of allies for the BGSU LGBTQ+ community.
