1. Call for Proposals: Day of Dialogue

The Division of Diversity and Belonging second annual Day of Dialogue takes place on Friday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre, located in the Wolfe Center for the Arts. It is an opportunity for BGSU to bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community to listen, talk and learn as active participants as we attempt to change the culture around addressing racial issues in the United States.

This year’s theme is “The Art of Diversity: An Introspective Journey to Belonging.” We welcome all forms of creative works as well as papers and presentations. Works can be as short as five minutes or as long as 45 minutes. Artwork and/or written artifacts submitted may be displayed for the duration of the event.

Proposals can be submitted here. Deadline for all submissions is Aug. 9. No late submissions will be accepted. Please email acbrown@bgsu.edu for more information.

2. $150 in gift cards for tasting food and tracking meals!

The Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University is conducting a study on the influence of memories on taste perception. If you enroll and complete the study, you will complete one in-person visit and three online visits. Over the course of the study, you will complete 16 days of answering questions about eating and emotions on your phone.

3. Campus Wireless Upgrade Project Conversion Schedule Now Available

Information Technology Services (ITS) has posted the building conversion schedule for the Campus Wireless Upgrade Project on the project website. This schedule includes the building names, the week the building is scheduled for conversion and the current conversion status.

ITS will reach out to college and department administrators directly in advance of the upgrade as a reminder and to communicate additional information including what users can expect during and after the upgrade.

4. CURS Fall Grant Application Closing Soon, But Extension Available

Undergraduate research/scholarly/creative projects of 1-2 students with a faculty mentor in ANY discipline or field are funded with up to $500 toward project costs and a $200 stipend per student. Group projects (3-5 students) can ask for up to $750 with a $200 stipend for each student.

Application Deadline to apply is Monday, Aug. 9 (a one-week extension can be given upon request by emailing cmora@bgsu.edu).

Applications are currently accepted at our website.

Application consists of:

Completion of online form (student(s) information, faculty mentor(s) information, general project information)

Upload Project narrative (2-3 pages)

Upload Budget (itemized list of anticipated purchases with individual costs & the total amount requested)

Upload Reference Letter(s) by faculty mentor(s) indicating their support of the student and the project

5. System Outages Announced for Aug. 11

The following systems will experience outages on Wednesday, Aug. 11 from 12:05 to 6 a.m. in order to complete required system maintenance. The systems that will be affected are:

• The OnBase document imaging system.

• The Event Calendar used by the BGSU Event Planning and Reservations Office.

• Lab Printing - users will be unable to utilize the printing services in labs during this outage period.

• iServiceDesk Application.

1. Graduate Student Job Opening - Accessibility Services

Accessibility Services is hiring a graduate student for a Student Assistant position. The graduate student in this position will assist with managing the front desk along with additional tasks. 3. Participants Needed: COVID-19 Study

BGSU undergraduate students (age 18+) are being recruited for a study to identify, categorize, and understand the opinions of college students regarding their stresses, coping, and needs for academic/social support during the late stages of the COVID-19 crisis and beyond (BGSU IRB 1740736). Students who complete the Q-grid (Excel file) and questionnaire will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card. The grid and questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete.

1. Assessing Course Design and Delivery

The design elements of an online or remote course can influence both the teaching and learning that occur within the course. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their online and remote course design and delivery, review standards for high quality course design (Quality Matters and BGSU Rubrics), and share best practices for (re)designing an effective, engaging, and well-structured online course.

• Thursday, Aug. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
