1. $150 in gift cards for tasting food and tracking meals!

The Department of Psychology at Bowling Green State University is conducting a study on the influence of memories on taste perception. If you enroll and complete the study, you will complete one in-person visit and three online visits. Over the course of the study, you will complete 16 days of answering questions about eating and emotions on your phone. Qualified participants who complete the study could earn up to $150 in gift cards! If you are interested in learning more, please visit our website for further details and eligibility criteria.

2. CURS Fall Grant Application Round Now Open

Undergraduate research/scholarly/creative projects of 1-2 students with a faculty mentor in ANY discipline or field are funded with up to $500 toward project costs and a $200 stipend per student. Group projects (3-5 students) can ask for up to $750 with a $200 stipend for each student.

Application Deadline to apply is Monday, Aug. 9 (a one-week extension can be given upon request by emailing cmora@bgsu.edu).

Applications are currently accepted on our website.

Application consists of:

• Completion of online form (student(s) information, faculty mentor(s) information, general project information).

• Upload Project narrative (2-3 pages).

• Upload Budget (itemized list of anticipated purchases with individual costs & the total amount requested).

• Upload Reference Letter(s) by faculty mentor(s) indicating their support of the student and the project.

3. Identity Management System Upgrade Jul. 30–Aug. 3

Beginning today through Tuesday, Information Technology Services (ITS) will transition BGSU accounts and applications to a new identity management solution. Once the transition is complete, the single sign-on (SSO) log in page and associated URLs will look slightly different. You may also be prompted to create a security question.

If you experience issues logging in after this change you may need to reset your password via self-service by following these instructions:

Navigate to MyBGSU. On the log in page select Forgot Password. Enter your email address. Select Reset via Email. Follow the prompts to change your password.

If you are unable to access your BGSU email to reset your password, please contact ITS for assistance.

4. USG Summer Food Drive!

Date: Tuesday and Wednesday

Time: Noon to 3 p.m.

Location: Front steps of the Education Building.

Donate items to help community members in need! We are looking for period products (pads, tampons) food items (preferably non-perishable) and hygiene products (soap, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper). All items will be donated to the Brown Bag Food Project!

1. Earn Money as an Undergraduate Learning Assisant for Introduction to Food and Nutrition

Undergraduates: You can earn money and add to your resume as a Learning Assistant for the Introduction to Nutrition Lecture.

Learning Assistants get paid to help run small groups during class lecture. The instrictor and Graduate Assistants will guide you through everything you need to do.

Requirements:

Must be available to attend lecture in Olscamp 115 every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. during fall semester. Must have taken FN 2070 Introduction to Nutrition (or its equivalent) and earned a B or above. Must attend a weekly meeting EVERY week (can be held via Zoom format). Strong leadership qualities, including organizational skills, self-motivation, patience and a positive attitude. Comfortable talking to small groups of students in the large lecture format. Confident discussing nutrition, science and health-related topics.

2. Women and Social Entrepreneurship Fall Course

Are you looking for a 2-credit-hour course in entrepreneurship? This course is open to all majors. It will be taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. during the first seven weeks of fall semester. Course enrollment information: BA 2010-1001-75204. Course description: Design for students who are interested in understanding and participating in social entrepreneurship. The course will be split into sections: Intro to social entrepreneurship, Social nonprofits & Social Entrepreneurship Challenge; an applied learning project where student teams will explore social topics, discover innovative solutions and create proposals and complete pitch presentations to venture philanthropists for seed funding. Taught by entrepreneur, Aly Sterling, Aly Sterling Philanthropy.

1. Assessing Course Design and Delivery

The design elements of an online or remote course can influence both the teaching and learning that occur within the course. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their online and remote course design and delivery, review standards for high quality course design (Quality Matters and BGSU Rubrics), and share best practices for (re)designing an effective, engaging, and well-structured online course.

2. Volunteers needed for summer commencement

Register now to be a commencement volunteer.

You are invited be a part of one of the most important days in the lives of the next class of BGSU alumni. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable.

This summer commencement will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 9 a.m. outdoors on the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle, located west of University Hall. If inclement weather is forecasted, the ceremony will be moved to the Stroh Center.

Volunteers are asked to arrive by 7:30 a.m. and in most cases, they can depart at approximately 9:30 a.m. Duties to be assigned include greeting guests, directing foot traffic, assisting with accessibility seating, and program distribution.
