3. Register for the Midwest Campus Compact Conference Watch Party!

Compact21 is the Western and Midwestern Campus Compact’s 2021 conference series. This series will focus on Resilience and Responsibility for Racial and Environmental Justice, two components of the systemic injustice that result in the unkept promise of full and equitable participation in education, employment, health care and environmental quality.

Conference participants, students, community partners, national service members, veterans, faculty, staff, and administrators will explore how to partner in renewing the promise of full participation in higher education, a flourishing democracy, and productive, meaningful and gainful careers.

This will feature speakers Ken Reardon and Antoinette Carroll.

BGSU CPI will be hosting a viewing party for registrants with a Collaboratory demonstration before the conference starts. The event will be held on May 25 at 2 p.m. in University Hall 310 in order to provide ample room for social distancing. Refreshments provided!

Register for this event here or visit our BGSU Center for Public Impact website.

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

The next training is Wednesday, May 26, 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., Zoom. Register here, and learn more about how you can help create a community of care at BGSU!

1. Canvas "New Quizzes" coming soon!

“New Quizzes” is coming in July 2021. Instructors will have the option to continue to use the current assessment feature “Classic Quizzes” through December 2022 when the vendor will discontinue its use.

“New Quizzes” is an updated assessment engine that integrates with Canvas and replaces the current quizzes functionality (Classic Quizzes) in Canvas. “New Quizzes” will be enabled for instructors to begin to familiarize themselves with the tool. There are new question types such as Categorization, Ordering, and Hot Spots. Some other improvements you may notice include a more streamlined way to manage item banks and the ability to copy quizzes.

"Classic Quizzes" will be discontinued by the vendor in December 2022 at which time all assessment will need to be in "New Quizzes". We recommend that any new course assessments use "New Quizzes" beginning in July 2021.

More information is located with this link.

The Center for Faculty Excellence is offering workshops in July. Register here.
