1. Baseball weekend culminated by Senior Day

Falcon baseball hosts Ball State in a four-game series starting today at 3:05 p.m. A 7-inning doubleheader will begin at noon on Saturday. And a single-game will begin at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday. Prior to Sunday's game, the baseball team will honor it's seniors. Falcons will take the field at Steller Field at Gary Haas Stadium in all four games.

2. Softball celebrates Senior Day this weekend

The softball team has a four-game home stint versus Miami beginning today at 3 p.m. The two will meet up again for a doubleheader tomorrow at 1 p.m. with the final game beginning at noon on Sunday. Prior to the game, the Falcons will honor their seniors. All games will take place at Meserve Field.

3. Tennis honors seniors versus EMU today

The Falcon tennis team hosts Eastern Michigan in their final home match of the season. Prior to the start of the match the Falcons will honor their four seniors. Match is set to begin at 1 p.m. today at Bowling Green High School.

4. Veterans Memorial construction start

Construction of new Veterans Memorial begins Monday, May 3, 2021 and will last until August 2021. This new memorial is located at the mid-point of sidewalk extending from East Hall to Memorial Hall. During construction, the immediate sidewalk is closed and there will intermittent sidewalk closures on those leading from the site to parking Lot N. Students, faculty and staff are asked to stay for equipment operating in and around this area.

5. ITS Service Desk Summer Hours

Beginning Monday, May 3 through Sunday, August 8, 2021, the ITS service desk will begin operating under new summer hours. Summer hours will be:

Monday - Friday | 7:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday | Closed

6. Ride a bike this summer for fun, health and the environment!

Any BGSU student, staff or faculty member can rent a bike from BGSU Bike Rental this summer! It's only $39 for the whole summer, May 19 through August 20, and includes free service! It simply can't be beat! Many bikes to choose from. Ride on or off campus. Stay/get fit; enjoy the outdoors; reduce vehicle emissions, and have fun all summer long! Application is here. 1. Calling Future Peace Corps workers or Fulbright Scholars

Are you interested in teaching English abroad after you graduate? Sign up for EDTL 2290: Intro to Teaching and Learning World Languages with Prof. Brigid Burke on Tues./Thurs. 2:30-3:45 p.m. next fall. You will learn about second language acquisition, lesson planning, teaching for proficiency, and experiential learning of world languages. You also will gain experience teaching in an actual classroom with coaching and supervision from Prof. Burke. Email bburke@bgsu.edu if you have any questions. 2. CPR and Lifeguarding Certification Courses

Want to learn how to save a life?

CPR and Lifeguarding Certification courses are offered to students, faculty/staff, and community members and are conducted by American Red Cross certified instructors.

CPR Course
This is a blended learning course featuring 2 online simulation learnings, which combines web-based learning with an in-class skills session. The online portions needs to be completed before the in-class session. Participants must bring a printed out certificate of completion of both online portions in order to be admitted to the in-class session of the class. Class sizes are limited to 4 participants.

Lifeguard Training
The American Red Cross blended learning lifeguarding course prepares you to prevent, recognize, and respond to emergencies in and around the water. Participants complete the eLearning portion and present proof of completion to enter the in-person skill sessions at the Student Recreation Center. Class sizes are limited to 4 participants.

4. HP 2150 Health and Wellness (summer course)

Are you wanting to enroll in a course this summer that can help you improve your overall health? If so, please consider enrolling in HP 2150: Health and Wellness. 6. Participants needed: COVID-19 study

BGSU undergraduate students (age 18+) are being recruited for a study to identify, categorize, and understand the opinions of college students regarding their stresses, coping, and needs for academic/social support during the late stages of the COVID-19 crisis and beyond (BGSU IRB 1740736). Students who complete the Q-grid (Excel file) and questionnaire will receive a $5 Amazon.com gift card. The grid and questionnaire will take about 30 minutes to complete.

7. Take BGP course Cultural Pluralism online this summer!

Take ACS2500 Cultural Pluralism online this summer during session 6W1 (5/26 – 7/08) and 6W2 (7/12 – 8/20). This course is an interdisciplinary exploration of race, ethnicity, class, gender and sexual orientation in the United States, emphasizing imaginative expressive forms, such as fiction, poetry, film and the visual arts. This course is an introduction to the topic of cultural pluralism. The course will proceed historically, but it will include literature, art, and media concerning the various cultures of the United States, as well as more sociological descriptions of conditions and experiences. 8. Take BGP course Intro to Folklore this summer!

POPC2200 Intro to Folklore & Folklife is available during Summer Session 6W2. Throughout this course we will consider different definitions of folklore, and we will continue to come back to the question of what texts (defined broadly to include music, artistic expression, and ritual practices) might be considered examples of folklore, and the functions they serve in social life. Students will become familiar with a variety of folklore forms and genres. We will explore many of the basic concepts of folklore scholarship in order to better understand what people hold to be particularly meaningful. 1. Free Student Summer Weight Loss Program!

Looking to change your eating habits, improve your exercise habits, and lose weight? We are running a weight loss group for 12-weeks starting in May via a private Facebook group. The treatment is delivered completely through the Facebook group. You will be encouraged to make changes to your diet and to increase your physical activity. You must be between the ages of 18-29, have a body mass index in the range of overweight or obesity (>25 kg/m2), have a desire to lose weight, own a smartphone or personal computer, have access to a scale, and have an existing Facebook account.

Eligible individuals will be randomly assigned to one of three groups. One of the groups will be asked to wait 12 weeks in order to participate. There is no cost to participate.

1. Flipped Classroom: One Step at a Time Workshop

Have you thought about flipping your classroom, but didn’t know where to start? This session will help you plan one lesson for “flipping” and show how you can use assessment to design classroom activities to enhance student learning. Come prepared with a class in mind, or you can learn from what the presenter has already done in her class, as we will be doing hands-on activities throughout the session. Whether you have already started changing your classroom or are just in the beginning stages, you will learn something new.

Learning Objectives:
-Record a lecture and post to Canvas for asynchronous student lectures;
- Produce a quiz in Canvas for assessment of learning material for future classroom activities;
-Create alternative activities for engaged learning and authentic learning experiences based on prior learning materials posted to Canvas.
