2. Military Experience, Mental Health, & Resilience

5. Help a Falcon in crisis! Training Opportunity

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

There's so much to learn and celebrate about the environment and sustainability that all of April is Earth Month at BGSU! 9. ATO Puts On Philanthropy To Support Anti-Hazing

The Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity is putting on their signature philanthropy event “Tau Cuts” on Thursday, April 22 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the Union Ballroom. Due to recent events on campus, Alpha Tau Omega has decided to donate all of the proceeds to HazingPrevention.org and pledges to stand against hazing in all school organizations.

10. BGSU Science Cafe: Medicated Streams

Dr. Kevin McCluney is an associate professor in BGSU's Department of Biological Sciences whose research focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of global change in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. He will discuss the impacts of human use of legal and illegal pharmaceuticals on aquatic and streamside food webs. A short talk will be followed by a panel discussion including collaborators and students involved in the research.

People tell stories, both to themselves and to each other. Stories have impact – personal & social, emotional & philosophical, constructive & destructive. This Fall you have the opportunity to explore three different types of mythology…

Classical Myth (CLCV 3800): Read, interpret, and reflect on stories that have nourished imaginations for thousands of years, and continue to do so today. (BGP approved) Multiple CLCV 3800 sections are available, In person, remote, and online.

Medieval Legends: Ride into the world of medieval chivalry through reading & discussion. Connect medieval legend to other storytelling & study the use of medieval legend in the modern world. CLCV 3880-1001 (#74692). Meets TuTh 2:30-3:45.

Norse Myth: Charging out of the north, the doomed heroes and gods of Norse mythology challenge & fascinate the modern mind. Read primary sources in translation & disentangle the authentic myths from modern retellings. DID Loki have horns? CLCV 3900-1001 (#75942). Meets MWF 11:30-12:20.

13. National Scholarship info and nominate students!

National scholarships offer recognition of institutional and faculty excellence in academic preparation and experience for students and give students additional opportunity to experience high-level learning and training. We know that there are amazing students across BGSU’s campus that are well qualified for these types of national recognition!

But we need faculty and staff assistance to both share information about these opportunities and to recommend students that would be strong applicants. 1. BGP German Culture Courses Offered Summer and Fall

Consider a German Culture Course! All are BGP-approved & taught in English.

Contemporary Germany: German culture, history, & daily life. Learn about how Germany dealt with its Nazi past, the cold war, the revolution in East Germany, and the tearing down of the wall. Study everyday life, including its role in the European Union & social media, soccer, digital games, and German popular music. This Summer, GERM 2160-101W is Online the 1st 6-week session. For Fall, GERM 2160-1001 (#74781) meets REMOTE 2:30-3:20 MWF.

German Culture and Civilization: the social, intellectual & artistic life of German-speakers from medieval times to WW II. Study key figures & inventions on the history of Western civilization. Discover famous artists, composer, movements, their historical significance, & their presence in contemporary popular culture. Study important thinkers like Marx, Nietzsche, Freud and their continued relevance. Fall semester: GERM 2150-1001 is TuTh 11:30-12:45 & GERM 2150-1002 is 1:00-2:15 TuTh.

Drop-in to the Career Center to clarify your summer internship and employment plans! In 15-20 minutes you can address almost any career-related topic including resumes and cover letters. 5. UAO's Student Appreciation Day

As students this year a proved a challenge for everyone. In honor of all students here on and off campus UAO wants to show our appreciation. 7. Rest in Protest

This intentional hour is designed for you to carve out space and time in your schedule for rest. We will begin with a brief introduction to the idea that rest is a form of resistance as noted by Tricia Hersey, founder of The Nap Ministry. The rest of the hour we will be engaging in sound therapy where you can simply rest, share in poetry or stories or meditate.

The hour of rest will take place on Wednesday, April 21 at 4 p.m.

10. Got Stuff? Donate It to WYMO and help others!

WYMO (When You Move Out Don't Throw It Out) is in full swing and you can donate nearly anything that's still usable in or around the WYMO boxes located in all residence hall lobbies; BTSU Lobby by stairs; Greek townhouses; and Marketplace convenience stores through May 3. These are for you to donate non-perishable food, clothing/shoes, toiletries, cleaning/laundry supplies, electronics, toys/games, school supplies/books, decorations, household items and MORE! 11. HP 2150: Health and Wellness

Are you wanting to enroll in a course this summer that can help you improve your overall health? If so, please consider enrolling in HP 2150: Health and Wellness. This course is open to all majors and is 100% online. This course is three credit hours and is offered in the first session (May 26th - July 8th) and the second session (July 12th-July 20th). Learn the language of espresso, love, and life itself, opening doors to the beauty of Rome and Venice and the excellence of da Vinci, Fellini, and Ferrari. Courses are delivered 100% online. Take ITAL 1010-101W (#40989) the first 6-week Summer session, continue with ITAL 1020-101W (#41044) the second 6-weeks, and be halfway done with the 4-semester A&S Foreign Language requirement by August! 13. Parking still enforced on Wellness Days

On Wellness Days (Wednesday, April 21st) parking enforcement will continue as normal. The only exception is that resident students with a valid parking permit are allowed to park in commuter lots.

1. Summer Weight Loss Program!

Looking to change your eating habits, improve your exercise habits, and lose weight? We are running a weight loss group for 12-weeks starting in May via a private Facebook group. The treatment is delivered completely through the Facebook group. You will be encouraged to make changes to your diet and to increase your physical activity. You must be between the ages of 18-29, have a body mass index in the range of overweight or obesity (>25 kg/m2), have a desire to lose weight, own a smartphone or personal computer, have access to a scale, and have an existing Facebook account.

Eligible individuals will be randomly assigned to one of three groups. One of the groups will be asked to wait 12 weeks in order to participate. There is no cost to participate.

1. BGP Assessment Process Discussion

All Bowling Green Perspective (BGP) courses have approved learning outcomes that are to be assessed at the end of the semester. This session will discuss the BGP learning outcomes assessment process, show you how to import your assessment and learning outcomes rubric from the BGP shell, and how to complete the assessment in your active Canvas course. Be sure to review your BGP Course Review Proposal and the assessment plan before attending this session.

2. Building a Publishing Pipeline Webinar Discussion

In this flipped professional development session, participants will be asked to watch the NCFDD’s webinar: Building a Publishing Pipeline: Concrete Strategies for Increasing your Writing Productivity before 12:30pm on April 22nd. On Thursday, April 22nd at 12:30 pm, BGSU registrants will convene remotely to engage in a meaningful discussion session to reflect on key takeaways from the webinar as well as workshop ideas and discuss how we will develop our own publishing piplelines.

3. Community Engagement Tracking System

Collaboratory is a centralized online platform for reporting, tracking, & sharing community engagement and public service work conducted by faculty, staff, students, and their community partners This activity could be in the form of teaching, research, public service, programs, and other campus/community partnerships. The Collaboratory will enhance BGSU’s ability to share our public impact story by providing a centralized location in which public impact work across BGSU and the greater NW Ohio community can be reported and shared.

5. Assessing Course Design and Delivery

The design elements of an online or remote course can influence both the teaching and learning that occur within the course. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their online and remote course design and delivery, review standards for high quality course design (Quality Matters and BGSU Rubrics), and share best practices for (re)designing an effective, engaging, and well-structured online course.
