1. Gerrymandering in a Time of Redistricting

BGSU Votes is lucky to have two established community organizers participating in a panel discussion on their experience working to end partisan gerrymandering in Michigan with the organization Voters Not Politicians. Katie Fahey, organization founder, and Nancy Wang, current Executive Director, will be available in a panel format to describe their own successful grassroots organizing, important information to have heading into a new redistricting time, and expertise on how young people can make a difference in their respective communities! 2. What Were You Wearing? (April 6th, 7th, 8th)

Displays in the What Were You Wearing? exhibit show recreations of actual outfits survivors working with The Cocoon were wearing when they were sexually assaulted. This display addresses the myth that what survivors were wearing at the time of their assault caused them to be victimized. An advocate from the Cocoon will be available at the time of the event.

3. Creating and Managing a Summer Writing Schedule

4/7, 1-2 p.m. via WebEx

Creating and Managing a Summer Writing Schedule We will discuss strategies for creating manageable writing goals, sticking to daily writing, and knowing how much to write. Participants will leave with a customized daily writing calendar that begins on April 30 and ends in August.

4. Earth Day with WSA

Join World Student Association this Thursday at 7:30pm to celebrate Earth Day! Come hang out for some fun activities and to talk about the importance of Earth day. If you can't join us in person in BTSU 316 we will have a livestream on our Instagram page @wsabgsu!

Come join us at our Mental Health Break event!! There will be a plethora of organizations at this event that has a goal to help spreads awareness of different aspects in mental health. Join us in playing games, discussing mental health, Zumba and so much more! We look forward to seeing you there !

6. Register for the SAAM 5K & Dog Walk on April 10

Show your support for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and stay active by participating in the SAAM 5K and Dog Walk! This event is a fundraiser and benefit for the Center for Violence Prevention and Education and the Cocoon.

Participants receive a t-shirt and dogs receive a bandana, guaranteed only for registrations received by April 2. Registration is required.

7. Canvas SCORM LTI maintenance scheduled for April 10

8. Help a Falcon in crisis! Training Opportunity

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

9. Virtual Conference on Violence Prevention, Advocacy, and Response

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to join It’s On Us and the Center for Violence Prevention and Education at BGSU via Zoom for an afternoon of discussion on violence prevention, advocacy, and response! This virtual conference on April 13th from 11a.m. - 2 p.m. will share insights from members of the BGSU community and beyond. Be a part of the conversation on topics including: trauma; survivor support; implicit bias; bystander intervention; and human trafficking. The first 50 registrants will receive an It’s On Us swag.

10. An offer you can't refuse...Mafia in Film BGP class!

Enroll in the 100% online course ITAL 2620-401W (#42365) "Italian American Experience: Mafia, Migration, and the Movies" this Summer. The class satisfies the Cultural Diversity in the U.S. and Humanities and Arts BG Perspective requirements. In this first 6-week session course (May 26-July 8), you'll identify and explore cross-cultural and transnational stereotypes of the phenomenon of the Italian Mafia in America and Italy. 11. BGSU-affiliated employees to be added to Bridge training system

On April 4, 2021, BGSU expanded access to the Bridge training application to include BGSU-affiliated employees in the following areas: Military/A (ROTC), Chartwells, and Flight Center. Bridge is the University’s enterprise training system and provides both required and optional online training courses for BGSU faculty, staff and students.

Users will receive notification from their supervisor and/or HR if they are required to complete a training course.

3. Tour the BGSU Greenhouse this Tuesday and Wednesday!

Check out the BGSU greenhouse, one of BGSU’s hidden gems this week. Features include an aquaponics system, integrated pest management system, food crops and many other sustainable practices and of course all kinds of beautiful and interesting plants, trees, and flowers. Tours are free and open to the BGSU community this Tuesday, April 6th and Wednesday, April 7th at 11:00am, 11:30am, 12:00 pm, and 12:30 pm and require a prior sign up. Masks and social distancing are required. Greenhouse is located across from the College Park Office Building and next to the Technology building. 9. University Libraries Ambassadors Take & Make Craft Event

Join the UL Ambassadors in "braiding together" a take and make craft. Share in a simple, enjoyable activity that brings us closer together in a time full of distance. 10. Fun Service Hour Opportunity

Are you looking for a chance to get an easy extra service hour? You're in luck! FORGE is hosting their 3rd and final packing party on Thursday the 8th at 6pm! We will be packaging a month's supply of menstrual products into paper bags in room 207 in the Education building. These bags are going to be distributed to students who need them, The Cocoon, The Brown Bag Food Project, and the Bowling Green community at large. 14. Call for Abstracts for International ResearchScape Journal: Deadline Extended to Friday, April 17th

The International ResearchScape Journal is seeking submissions for its spring 2021 volume. Students who have produced or are currently working on interdisciplinary projects that are international in their scope and focus are strongly encouraged to apply. We are especially interested in research on global responses to the pandemic, the international BLM uprisings, Human rights, refugees, global migration, and climate change. The deadline for abstracts has been extended to Friday, April 16th at 11:59 p.m.; submit your 400-500 word abstracts to Dr. Rachel Ann Walsh (walshr@bgsu.edu). Completed manuscripts will be due during finals week.

18. Transgender Consumer Research in Fashion

Family and Consumer Sciences faculty members are currently conducting consumer research: Binary and Non-Binary Transgender Consumer Groups and Their Perspectives on Fashion Design, Marketing, and Retail Practices.

The goal of this research is to explore the opinions of binary and non-binary transgender individuals regarding fashion design and marketing, and inclusive retail practices of companies. We invite you to speak with us in a one-on-one Zoom interview; it should take no more than one hour. For your participation, you will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card as compensation.

Your participation in this research is voluntary and you are free to withdraw your participation from this research at any time without any penalty or loss of benefits. You may also refuse to answer any question. Your responses will solely be used for research purposes. If you have any questions regarding the research and participation opportunities, please contact Dr. Su Yun Bae and Dr. Elizabeth Holman at fcsresearch@bgsu.edu in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The Safe Zone workshop promotes awareness of LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer +) people. The workshop provides education concerning LGBTQ+ issues and seeks to improve the environment for LGBTQ+ people. This workshop helps to build a support network of allies for the BGSU LGBTQ+ community.

2. Community Engagement Tracking System

Track Your Community Engagement Activities with Collaboratory

Collaboratory is a centralized online platform for reporting, tracking, & sharing community engagement and public service work conducted by faculty, staff, students, and their community partners This activity could be in the form of teaching, research, public service, programs, and other campus/community partnerships. The Collaboratory will enhance BGSU’s ability to share our public impact story by providing a centralized location in which public impact work across BGSU and the greater NW Ohio community can be reported and shared.

3. Assessing Course Design and Delivery

The design elements of an online or remote course can influence both the teaching and learning that occur within the course. In this workshop, participants will reflect on their online and remote course design and delivery, review standards for high-quality course design (Quality Matters and BGSU Rubrics), and share best practices for (re)designing an effective, engaging, and well-structured online course.

4. Volunteers needed for in-person commencement ceremonies

You are invited be a part of one of the most important days in the lives of the next class of BGSU alumni. Serving as a commencement volunteer is a great way to show your support for our graduates and to help make their celebration memorable. This spring, we will hold ceremonies outdoors, rain or shine, at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. There will be six ceremonies occurring April 30 - May 2.

All registered volunteers will receive a commencement volunteer T-shirt. Complimentary meals will be provided to those volunteering to work more than one ceremony on either Saturday or Sunday.
