IT Policies, Standards and Guidelines help support a safe, reliable and effective technology environment across the University. These documents explain the rules, requirements and best practices for using and managing University technology, systems and data. Definitions


BGSU IT policies are officially hosted on the BGSU Office of General Counsel's website, located here. All IT policies listed on the General Counsel's website have been reviewed and approved by the Cabinet and have also been sent to the state for filing pursuant to Senate Bill 3.

IT Standards are policy-informed requirements, rooted in best practice, that govern university technology use and ensure consistent and secure practices. 

IT Guidelines are recommended practices or expectations that helps users make consistent, secure, and effective technology-related decisions within the university.
