Welcome back to Spring Semester! As we transition through this first year with Winter Session, we are all learning about our new routines and changes to our calendars.
Some things that you will observe or will be completed during Spring Session are:
Begin tagging external emails to help all of us recognize an external email. Even if it looks like it is coming from “rrogers@bgsu.edu“, but is sent from an external address, a tag will appear at the beginning of each email coming from an external address indicating its status.
Undergraduate Admissions applications for Cohort 2019 will complete the final change from using the old UAS system to the new Slate system.
Provost Performance Metrics, which includes 16 new reports, will be available for academic reporting.
Mercy College IT transition planning will be completed this spring to allow for the strategic partnership to begin in July.
Automated transcript requests will be activated online.
OrgSync’s student organization system replacement called Presence will be activated for student organizations to begin planning for fall events and activities.
Online Visitor Parking Permits will be activated.
Updated program proposal requests for the Graduate College will go online.
Key personal Human Resource data items will be masked from view on any document or screen - like Social Security Numbers and bank account numbers.
Two Factor Authentication for email will continue to be rolled out to all faculty and staff. Currently, no accounts using Two Factor Authentication for MyBGSU and email have been compromised.
Versions of Windows older than Windows 10 will no longer be supported on university-owned computers after fall semester. We will be working with all faculty and staff to help make the conversion to Windows 10 on the remaining 2000 devices.
Sincerely,
John Ellinger, CIO
