Amanda Spinosa

Visual Arts

Amanda Spinosa is an artist from Youngstown, Ohio. She received her BFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art from Youngstown State University in 2018 and is currently an MFA candidate in 2-D studies at Bowling Green State University, with focus in printmaking. Her current body of work

explores sentiment, memory, and strong connections to clothing and personal objects that have had a close relationship to the body. This series highlights and speaks to the attachment to objects that seemingly embody presence or hold some special power, connection, or comfort after experiencing the loss of a loved one. Combining various processes, mediums, and materials, she creates thoughtfully layered work that speaks to personal autobiography and memory. Her work also leans into the construction and processes of making to enrich meanings. Currently, her work is constructed of differing kinds of paper, low relief layers, drawing, and printed colors and patterns to loosely imitate fabric textures and objects.
