2. Be a part of the solution: Suicide prevention training on May 8

The mission of Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is to reduce suicidal behaviors and save lives by providing innovative, practical and proven suicide prevention training. The signs of crisis are all around us. We believe that quality education empowers all people, regardless of their background, to make a positive difference in the life of someone they know. No Falcon should struggle alone. QPR will provide the skills and resources to respond and provide support to members of our BGSU community. This will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and 1:00 to 2:45 p.m. on Monday, May 8, at BTSU 207.

3. BG Socialists petitioning in the BTSU and Oval today!

The BG Socialists will be petitioning for an abortion rights amendment to be added to the Ohio constitution. Come sign the petition at the Bowen-Thomspon Student Union and BGSU Oval from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

4. BGSU Clay Club spring sale

Our spring sale will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22. We will have a tent located behind the School of Arts by the community garden. We will be selling the student pieces we have been working on all semester and would love to have people check it out!

5. Bloomfest is tonight! - Location change

Location is now moved to the Maurer Center, in the Atrium. The Environmental Action Group and Music Industry Club are hosting the 2nd annual Bloomfest! Bloomfest is an Earth Month music celebration!

6. Finalist for Vice President for Research presentation

On Monday, April 24, Dr. Christopher Sanford, finalist for the Vice President for Research, will be giving a presentation from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theatre Room 206. Their presentation will include a Q&A session and will be livestreamed. Dr. Sanford’s CV and the livestream can be accessed at the Office of the Provost's website under Leadership Searches.

7. Proxemics senior film capstone

The Department of Theatre and Film presents Alex Jowanovitz's senior capstone film, Proxemics. The film will be shown on Saturday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. at Donnell Theatre. We hope to see you there for this different kind of love story!

8. Qavah Campus Worship is back

Qavah Campus Worship is back! We had a great experience in the March edition and we're believing in God for an outpouring before we depart for the summer holiday! This is our cry and the Lord is set to use this worship experience to set every desiring heart free. It will be held from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m on Saturday, April 22, at Olscamp 107. Everyone is invited!

9. Softball hosts Ball State this weekend for Alumnae Day & Youth Day

This Saturday, your Falcons host the Cardinals in a double-header matchup for Alumnae Day and Youth Day. The first game starts at 1:00 p.m. and the second games begins at 3:30 p.m. at Meserve Field. Admission is free for everyone!

10. Tennis hosts Western Michigan and Toledo this weekend!

Your Falcons host the Broncos today at 1 p.m. at Perrysburg Tennis Center. Additionally, tennis hosts their last match this Sunday versus Toledo at 1 p.m. at Perrysburg Tennis Center. Admission is free for everyone, so come support your Falcons.

1. CCCC end of semester event

Hello CCCC members. You are invited to our end-of-the-semester party scheduled for Friday, April 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the East Hall Lounge on the 2nd floor.

Everyone is free to come and go as they please; this is an informal event where you can take a break during the final week of class. There is going to be a raffle draw for the first fifteen attendes, with two winners receiving prizes. We'll have snacks and pizza and you'll have a chance to reminisce about the high points of the semester.

2. Destress Fest starts this weekend at the library

Destress Fest will take place at Jerome Library this Sunday, April 23, through Tuesday, April 25, with planned activities each day designed to encourage you to take a break, relax and destress.

All activities are FREE, including sunset yoga, flowerpot painting, therapy dogs, fiber arts crafting circle, origami, coloring and more. You'll find all Destress Fest activities on the Campus Events Calendar.

3. Have fun memories from summer camp? - Summer Camp Ethnography online course offered

POPC 4600: Summer Camp Ethnography – This Popular Culture class will teach students about the fundamental principles and methods of ethnographic research and writing through the lens of summer camp. Students in this course will develop their skills of observation and analysis by putting these principles and methods into practice. If possible, they will observe and document group rituals and ceremonies that are part of summer camps’ traditional activities to learn observation and interviewing techniques. Each student will design and carry out an original research project documenting summer camp rituals and ceremonies, producing a final paper that uses ethnographic data to reveal and better understand these events and phenomena. This class will be offered online during the second six week session from June 26 to Aug. 4, taught by Dr. Montana Miller. Learn more about summer '23 CCS course offerings.

4. Radbill Center has weekend study hours

The Radbill Center for College and Life Design is located in 314 Math Science. This brand new space is a perfect spot to study for the final week of the semester. We're open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday to provide students another comfortable space to collaborate and get motivated. Refreshments will also be provided for students. 6. Stay on task with body doubling at the library

We know it can be hard to get started and keep going with all the studying, writing, designing and everything else you need to do at the end of the semester. Have you ever tried body doubling to help you stay on task? In a nutshell, studying with other people who are also studying provides the gentle social pressure to keep working that can be just what you need to be your most productive. Join us at Jerome Library in the large group study room located on the first floor. You'll have quiet work time with scheduled work and break times, because breaks are necessary, too! Snacks will be provided.

Body doubling sessions:

  • Wednesday, April 19: 8 to 11 p.m.
  • Thursday, April 20: 8 to 11 p.m.
  • Friday, April 21: 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, April 24: 8 to 11 p.m.

7. Take ACS 2500: Cultural Pluralism online this summer

ACS 2500 will be offered online this summer during the second six week session from June 26 to Aug. 4. This class will cover the interdisciplinary exploration of race, ethnicity, class, gender and sexual orientation in the United States, emphasizing imaginative expressive forms, such as fiction, poetry, film and visual arts. 8. Undergraduate policies amended

The following undergraduate policies have recently been amended:

Retaking an Undergraduate Course 3341-3-52

The following policy was updated to remove the minimum grade needed for a course to be retaken, removes the limit on the number of courses a student may retake to improve their GPA and instead limits the total times a course may be retaken to three attempts.

9. Want to learn about the origin stories of the United States? Take ACS 3000 online this summer

Take ACS 3000: Origin Stories of America this summer to learn about the competing narratives who ‘really’ discovered America and what they found here. Topics will range from Columbus to Leif Erikson, the Welsh Prince Madoc and Chinese Admiral Zheng He. These narratives will offer students the opportunity to think critically about such claims while familiarizing themselves with the complex interplay of elements- ethnic pride, nativist politics, romantic sentiment and the desire for a ‘usable past’. 10. We need you! Falcon Outfitters is hiring a social media intern!

Falcon Outfitters is hiring a social media & marketing specialist for this summer!

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Promoting the Falcon Outfitters brand utilizing Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Twitter.
  • Create content for all social media platforms.
  • Analyzing and tracking results from Google AdWords and social ads.
  • Schedule photoshoots with students, alumni, etc. to model Falcon Outfitters apparel.
  • Work closely with the Falcon Outfitters marketing team.
  • Assist with development of graphic design elements and/or other visual communication goals.

2. CFE Teaching & Learning Certificate Program

The BGSU Teaching & Learning Certificate Program, administered by the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE), is open to all BGSU faculty/instructors, graduate students, administrative and classified staff. The program provides opportunities to interact with colleagues across campus and to explore current, innovative and effective teaching strategies that support student success.

If you have participated in five CFE workshops this academic year, you may be eligible to receive the 2022-2023 Teaching & Learning Certificate. Certificate requirement information is available on our website.

In order to apply for the Teaching & Learning Certificate, you must complete the 2022-2023 BGSU Teaching & Learning Certificate Tracking Form.

Participants who submit their completed tracking forms before Monday, May 1, will be honored at the 2023 Teaching and Learning Summit on Wednesday, May 10.

3. Register now for the 2023 Teaching & Learning Summit!

Register now for 2023 BGSU Teaching and Learning Summit! The theme for this year’s summit is Teaching for the Public Good. Presentations will explore our various roles in teaching for the public good from the perspectives of four pillars:

  • Pedagogical Innovation
  • Equity & Access
  • Student Success and Belonging
  • Scholarship of Teaching & Learning

The keynote speaker for the Summit is Dr. James Lang, author of Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning.

The Summit will take place on Wednesday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Olscamp Hall. The event is free and open to BGSU faculty, instructors, staff and students. A boxed lunch will be provided to all participants who register before April 26.
