1. Finalist for Vice President for Research presentation
On Wednesday, April 19, Dr. Lique Coolen, finalist for the Vice President for Research, will be giving a presentation from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theatre Room 206. Their presentation will include a Q&A session and will be livestreamed. Dr. Coolen’s CV and the livestream can be accessed at the Office of the Provost's website under Leadership Searches.

2. Bloomfest - Earth Month concert this Friday
The Environmental Action Group and Music Industry Club are hosting the 2nd annual Bloomfest! Bloomfest is an Earth Month music celebration!

1. Free self-care kits, mocktails, stress balls, raffle prizes and more!
Join the Office of Residence Life at the De-stress Express to relax before finals. There will be several self-care DIY activities including stress balls, sensory bottles, origami, coloring and more. There will also be a variety of raffle prizes to be won.
This event will be held on Wednesday, April 19, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at both Centennial and Offenhauer lobbies. This event is open to all students and is completely free.

2. Interested in learning about martial arts in the United States? Take ACS 3000 online this summer
Take ACS 3000 this summer to learn about how martial arts in the United States encompasses self-defense, physical fitness and amateur competition, as well as being a multi-billion industry. This course will explore the history and development of American martial arts from the colonial era to the 21st century. This course will be offered online during the first six-week session from May 15 to June 23, taught by Dr. Scott Martin. Learn more about summer '23 CCS course offerings.

3. Need food assistance?
Need assistance with food? The Dean of Students is here to help. We offer two food assistance programs that can help you with that. You can also stop in during our drop-in hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in room 301 of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and one of our staff members can assist you.

4. Volunteer at Summer Splash!
Wellness Connection will be hosting an end-of-the-year pool party, Summer Splash! Summer Splash will be held at the Student Recreation Center from 8 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, April 20. This event will feature many summer competitions. There will be crafts such as tie-dye and postcard making with the PAWS Therapy Dogs!

5. Psychology study for young adults from diverse backgrounds
We are a team of BGSU researchers working on a study of young adults from diverse ethnic backgrounds and their perceptions of healthcare.
We are sending out an online anonymous survey. The survey lasts about 45 minutes and you can enter a raffle with a 50% chance of winning a $5 gift card to Amazon as soon as you finish. Complete the survey from the comfort of your own home!
We are researchers at BGSU and we will not share your answers with anybody. We are just looking to learn more about young adults and their perceptions on healthcare.

6. Summer Splash
Kick back with the Wellness Connection for an end-of-the-year pool party at this year’s Summer Splash! Summer Splash will be held at the Student Recreation Center from 8 to 11 p.m. on April 20. This event will feature many summer competitions and prizes such as Cannon Ball Crash, Team Canoe Battleship and a water obstacle course! Want ways to relax? Enjoy tie-dye and postcard making with the PAWS therapy dogs with an ice-cream sundae bar included! The first 100 students to arrive will receive a free Wellness Connection cooler bag for this coming summer, along with some goodies inside! This event is free to all BGSU students.

7. International Studies farewell picnic and photo contest today
On Wednesday, April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 208 of the BTSU, the International Studies Program will be hosting a farewell picnic to congratulate and say goodbye to our graduating majors and minors. All International Studies majors and minors are welcome to attend! We will have food, drinks and global trivia games as well as a slideshow of photos from students' study abroad experiences and memories of BGSU. Everyone who submits their photos will be entered into the International Studies photo contest!

8. Stay on task with body doubling at the library
We know it can be hard to get started and keep going with all the studying, writing, designing and everything else you need to do at the end of the semester. Have you ever tried body doubling to help you stay on task? In a nutshell, studying with other people who are also studying provides the gentle social pressure to keep working that can be just what you need to be your most productive. Join us at Jerome Library in the large group study room located on the first floor. You'll have quiet work time with scheduled work and break times, because breaks are necessary, too! Snacks will be provided.

1. Interested in Ethnic and Gender Studies? Online graduate course offered this summer
ETHN 6820 is Applied Ethnic and Gender Studies. This course will examine some of the practical applications of ethnic studies and women’s gender and sexuality studies through academic works applying their lessons to different types of work and first-hand accounts from graduates in these fields. Taken together, they will help reveal why these frames of analysis matter in the modern workplace and how they can benefit professionals across different vocations. This class can be applied to the Ethnic Studies and Women’s Studies graduate certificates but is open to all graduate students in other programs who are interested in ethnic and gender studies. This course will be offered online during the second six-week summer session from June 26 to Aug. 4 taught by Dr. Tomas Edge. Contact instructor if you have any questions at tjedge@bgsu.edu.

2. WS 6200: Contemporary Feminist Theory offered online this summer
WS 6200: Contemporary Feminist Theory is an introduction to the principal conceptual bases underlying feminist theory across the disciplines. Examination of recent feminist theory and its applications in the fields of language, literature, film, religion, philosophy, history, psychoanalysis, developmental psychology and politics. This course will be offered during the first six-week summer session from 5/16 to 6/23 fully online. This course is required for the Women’s Studies graduate certificate but is open to any graduate student who is interested in gender studies. 1. CFE Video Recording Studio
Attention BGSU faculty & staff! Are you tired of noisy spaces and inconsistent recording quality when recording your educational videos? Look no further! The new instructor video recording studio located in Olscamp 109 is now available for you to reserve.
This sound-proofed studio offers a professional space to record your course materials with a high-definition video camera and microphone. You also have the option to use a black backdrop for a clean, solid background or a green screen to create an interesting background for your lectures.
With the Zoom technology, you can easily produce screen capture videos and use preset BGSU backgrounds for added visual appeal. All you need to bring is your laptop.

2. Academic Analytics - Main campus
On April 20 and 21, a team from Academic Analytics will visit BGSU. The main purpose of their visit is to provide demonstrations and opportunities for informational interaction with BGSU faculty.
BGSU has adopted Faculty Insight to enable our faculty to locate each other, form research collaborations and networks both inside BGSU and among scholars at 470 Ph.D.-granting institutions in the U.S. and develop our externally funded research potential.
Faculty profiles are pre-populated in Faculty Insight with recent activity data sourced from Academic Analytics. This includes articles, books, grants, awards, conference proceedings and patents.
Faculty Insight can be used to:
- Find subject matter experts and collaborators within the university or at another institution
- Build interdisciplinary research teams
- Showcase faculty scholarly activity with curated faculty profiles that are pre-populated for you
- Identify federal funding and honorific award opportunities
- Funding and awards are searchable by name, related topic and other filter options

3. CATL Faculty Spotlight registration: Academic Honesty Violations
Join the Committee to Advance Teaching and Learning (CATL) for a Faculty Spotlight on Academic Honesty Violations: Policies and Reporting. Chris Bullins, assistant vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students will be presenting on procedures related to academic honesty and violations for both undergraduate and graduate students. Throughout the presentation, an explanation and demonstration of the new reporting system for academic honesty violations will be provided.
