The Cross-Cultural Conversation Connection (CCCC) is accepting applications for participants for Fall 2021!
We are an organization which pairs international and domestic Students together in conversation groups with group leaders to build an environment of cultural awareness and provide international students with an opportunity to practice their English-speaking skills in social settings. We are looking to go hybrid this semester with a combination of face-to-face and online groups. Our kickoff party is set for week 4 with more details to come.
Participants can be any class standing including guest/exchange students. Group leaders must at least be 3rd year standing to apply for the position.

The AROTC Falcon Fitness Challenge is almost here!
Join Falcon Fitness and BGSU Army ROTC for a competition running Sept. 27 to Nov. 19! You will be performing different exercises each week and competing against the community of BGSU and Bowling Green. There will be 5 men and 5 women winners each week who will win a prize. Health and safety precautions will be in place to keep everyone safe. The challenges will take place at the Rec Center & the weekly drop-in times are listed below:
• Mondays: 5:30 – 7 p.m.
• Tuesdays: 2 – 4 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 4 – 5 p.m.
• Thursdays: Noon – 2 p.m.
• Fridays: 1:30 – 3 p.m.

Have you ever wanted to try gymnastics? Are you looking to get back into the sport after taking a break?
BGSU Club Gymnastics is a co-ed team open to individuals of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. Our practices are run in open-gym style so you can work on whichever skills and event you choose. Or you can just come work out with us and join a fun and welcoming team! All practices are optional, meaning you can customize your schedule to your availability.

Information Technology Services (ITS) has posted the building conversion schedule for the Campus Wireless Upgrade Project on the project website. This schedule includes the building names, the week the building is scheduled for conversion and the current conversion status.
ITS will reach out to college and department administrators directly in advance of the upgrade as a reminder and to communicate additional information including what users can expect during and after the upgrade.

The entire Code of Student Conduct is now in this single policy, combining several prior policies into one document. Changes to the Code also include: updated definitions of prohibited conduct, an option allowing the respondent to choose a single decision-maker in a formal hearing, more explicit procedural guidance, and a broader list of possible sanctions.
2nd Round of Fall CURS Grant Application Round are NOW OPEN.
Undergraduate research/scholarly/creative projects of 1-2 students with a faculty mentor in ANY discipline or field are funded with up to $500 toward project costs and a $200 stipend per student. Group projects (3-5 students) can ask for up to $750 with a $200 stipend for each student.
Application Deadline to apply is Monday, Sept. 20.

• Upload Project narrative (2-3 pages)

Focused Falcon Mindful Moments Workshop are free 4-week workshops offered to help manage stress, strengthen focus and attention, and increase memory. The Slater Family Ice Arena is offering a fundraising opportunity for student groups/organizations after Falcon hockey home games for the upcoming 2021/2022 season.
Your group would be responsible for cleaning the stands after Falcon hockey games. This includes picking up large trash items such as cans and bottles, sweeping underneath the bleachers, as well as spot mopping any spills that occur during or after the game.

Help create a Community of Care at BGSU and make sure no Falcon struggles unnoticed and alone! Start the Conversation is a collaborative training offered by the Counseling Center and the Humanities Troupe from the Department of Theatre and Film. In the training, you will learn how to contribute to a community of care, how to identify the warning signs of people who may be struggling, and how to help (including suicide prevention strategies). Simple expressions of care are powerful, and you can make a difference in someone's life!

The Truman Scholarship is a nationally competitive $30,000 merit-based grant awarded to undergraduate students who wish financial support to attend graduate or professional school in preparation for careers in government/public service. The Foundation seeks candidates who:
1.) have extensive records of public and community service,
2.) are committed to careers in government or elsewhere in public service,
3.) and have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills.
You must be a Junior to apply. A pre-application is due in the Honors College office (024 Founders Hall) before 5 p.m. Oct. 15. A faculty committee will review the materials and make recommendations for BGSU nominees. You do NOT have to be in the Honors College to be considered!

The College of Arts and Sciences will host a moderated conversation and Q&A session with special guests Laura Coates and Jeffrey Rosen on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre, Wolfe Center for the Arts. Laura Coates is a CNN Host and Senior Legal Analyst who specializes in the intersection of civil rights and criminal prosecution. Jeffrey Rosen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Constitution Center, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate the public about the U.S. Constitution. FINANCES 101: The FREE life-sized game that teaches High School Students about the financial demands of the real world.
High School Students travel around a life-sized game board. Some of life’s choices lie in the draw of the cards, the roll of the dice or the spin of a wheel.

The Goldwater Scholarship Program was created to encourage outstanding students majoring in mathematics, the natural sciences, or engineering who intend to pursue research careers in these fields. This is a nationally competitive scholarship that provides support for tuition, room and board, books and fees up to a maximum of $7,500 annually. Students can apply in their sophomore and/or junior year only.

This semester we have open enrollment for our staff team. We ask members to contribute about three articles per month. Weekly expectations are: general meeting attendance & article writing. While every member is required to write, we have other opportunities available. Copy editing, event planning, marketing, graphic design, videography, photography & community engagement to name a few!

Fostering a sense of community and belonging in remote learning contexts can help students feel less isolated and more connected to their peers, the instructor, and the course content. This workshop focuses on elements of online pedagogy that promote community building in remote learning. Referencing the Community of Inquiry framework, this session focuses on online and remote teaching strategies and Canvas tools that support Cognitive Presence (critical thinking and reflection), Teaching Presence (facilitating discussions, creating connections, and providing feedback and support), and Social Presence (student engagement, authentic peer interaction, shared goals, and collaboration).

The Center for Faculty Excellence is offering an Intro to Canvas Studio workshop. Canvas Studio is a screen capture tool that makes it easy for faculty to create engaging videos within Canvas. The Studio interface allows students and instructors to engage with media by implementing in-video commenting and low-stakes quizzes can be added right within the video to assess student knowledge. This workshop will demonstrate the features of Canvas Studio from producing and editing screen capture videos to utilizing student analytics.

New Faculty Fridays is a semester-long orientation process designed for full-time faculty and instructors who have been at BGSU for less than 12 months. The University Libraries is happy to announce a Teaching with Primary Sources learning community. Throughout the semester we will be hosting four sessions discussing primary sources and best practices for using them in the classroom. Participants will work toward the development of a lesson plan or assignment for use in future teaching. The sessions will be most useful for instructors teaching courses in the arts and humanities.
Participants who successfully complete all four sessions will be eligible for a $200 stipend (taxable) or professional development funds. Applications are due by Sept. 22. Apply today!
